To have known Jack was to love him! One of a kind. We were fortunate to have 3 boys play CYO football at St Lawrence under Jack. Many a night I watched practice and saw how Jack coached the kids. He could yell and correct a kid for his mistake and immediately follow his yelling with his signature big smile. The kids loved him. On a trip home from a gam3e in Lancaster County I rode with Jack, Jack L and Nick C, and I never laughed so long and hard in my life. A trip I'll never forget. Rest in heavenly peace Jack, you earned it!

Heartfelt sympathies to the Shingle family. We mourn with you. We worked with Jack for a number of years providing the wonderful children of Upper Darby an opportunity to play sports. Jack blocked, we ran. It was a pleasure and a privilege. He will be remembered always.

With Sympathy,

Jack was always willing to be a guest speaker when I was teaching American Government at Upper Darby High School.
The students loved his colorful stories about Upper Darby football and his experiences in Upper Darby government.

Coach, thanks for teaching me the right way to play football. You would scream if a kid tackled with his head down! I remember one day we ran every play wrong with our ------ white cleats. You kicked the ball so far i think it is still going. Band aids on helmets if you got the wind knocked out of you. I miss those days and hope kids today have as much fun as we did with you, Jack L, and Nick C.
RIP.

So sad Jack was a great caring man. He went above and beyond. He would go too my house, just to make sure my son would be at school. Only to find out later. My son would sometimes have my daughter lock it. So he could not get in. Rest in peace. To the family. prayers said angels sent.

Just want the Shingle family to know how sorry I am to hear about the passing of their family patriarch.I only met him when his son Jack and his family moved to our little town of Rutledge (mayberry). I saw how involved he and his wife were in there grandchildrens lives. They just about adopted my son Nickel. He was there for every Shingle family event. When I found out that he was ill with Altzhimers they didn't miss a beat. They rallied as a family. Just like there dad always said. "I'll block you run". They didn't hide they brought awareness to the disease that was taking their dad away from them. They had fundraisers for research that would help others just like their dad spent his life dedicated to helping others. He was a selfless man who made a difference in so many lives. He will be greatly missed by his Rutledge family. I love you all.
