William O. Bast

1920 - 2022

William O. Bast, 101 of Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, passed away at White Horse Village on April 22, 2022. He was born in Kulpmont, PA to parents Dr. Roy B. Bast and C. Edith (Achey) Bast on December 12, 1920. William graduated from Reading High School and received his BS degree from Albright College, Reading, PA. William married the love of his life, Mildred Schmehl on September 7, 1942 who has predeceased him in 2014. He is also predeceased by his sister Adele Bast. William served in the US Army during WWII as a medic. William had a successful career as Vice President of Manufacturing for 40 years at Glaxo Smith Kline in Philadelphia, PA. William was a long time member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Havertown, PA. He leaves behind his sister, Gloria Boyer of Allentown, PA, and his children, William R. Bast and wife Joanne of Littlestown, PA, Robert E. Bast and wife Carolyn of Blue Ash, Ohio, and James R. Bast and wife Maryann of Neptune, NJ. Also surviving are his 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. William and Mildred’s passion was traveling to Lovell, Maine for many years. He also enjoyed traveling, serving on the Lutheran Knolls Board of Directors and many committees of White Horse Village. Memorial Service to be arranged.
