BELLEFONTAINE — Gary Lee Rister Sr., 67, of DeGraff, passed away Monday, Nov. 9, 2015 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
He was born in Worthington, Kentucky on Dec. 19, 1947 to the late John and Nellie (Rodhen) Rister. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Wayne Rister and Hobart Rister; and a sister, Bernie Rister.
Gary is survived by his lifelong companion, Deb Anderson of DeGraff; sons, Gary L. (Beth) Rister Jr. of Huntsville, Terry (Kim) Rister of Bellefontaine and Max Rister of Delaware, Ohio; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Olive Sammons of Kentucky, Bert Skaggs of Chillicothe and Laura Jean Meredith of Jackson, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary worked many years in asbestos abatement with his son before retiring. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. Most of all, Gary loved spending time with his family and friends. He attended the DeGraff United Methodist Church.
Rev. Kym James will officiate the funeral service on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, where visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 13, from 5-7 p.m. Burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery.
