April Rutter Adams

Girdletree-April Rutter Adams, 70, of Girdletree passed away Friday, January 9, 2015 at her home.

She was born on April 17, 1944 in Girdletree, a daughter of the late Artis and Helen Rutter.

April spent 30 years as a floral designer in various locations in Maryland and North Carolina. She was a member of Spence Baptist Church in Snow Hill. She had a special love for dogs, and she spent 12 years as showman and breeder for papillons. She was also an avid reader.

She is survived by a sister, Jo Ellen Bynum and her husband Stephen of Girdletree; nieces, Eliza Ellen Sanders, Laura Leigh Plitt, Jessica Jo Rutter, Jaime Leigh Aaron, Helen Elizabeth Bynum, Victoria Grace Bynum, and Margaret Annelise Bynum; a nephew, William Joseph Rutter; a great niece, Grace Ellen Rutter; a great nephew, Adam Jacob Rutter; and sisters-in-law, Teresa Owens of Snow Hill and Connie Rutter of Asheboro, NC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Milton Berle Rutter and Charles Richard Rutter.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Spence Baptist Church in Snow Hill. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. The Reverends Marc Sanders and Kenneth Elligson will officiate.

In memory of Ms. Adams, memorial contributions may be sent to Spence Baptist Church, 4824 Paw Paw Creek Road, Snow Hill, MD 21863.
