Merrill McClure Obituary

Merrill Ralph McClure

FRUITLAND — Merrill Ralph McClure, 89, of Fruitland, and formerly of Binghamton, N.Y., and Montrose, Pa., died Sunday, June 5, 2011, at his residence. Born in Mason, Mich., he was a son of the late Edgar David and Mabel Standish McClure.

He worked in home improvement as a master carpenter for more than 30 years, retiring in 1977. He loved to "tinker" and invent things to help around the house, inside and out. He was very community oriented and enjoyed helping with the Souper Seniors at St. Alban's Episcopal Church. He was always supportive of his family and their needs came before his.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rose J. Hamilton McClure; four children, Joseph McClure and his wife, Sandra, of Texas, Nancy Miller and her husband, Benjamin, of Virginia, Margaret Victoria and her husband, Peter, of Connecticut, and Edna Carr and her husband, John, of Virginia; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Edna, Donald, Howard, Etha, Merna, Wayne, Robert and Lilas.

A celebration of his life will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Alban's Episcopal Church at 302 St. Albans Drive in Salisbury, with the Rev. Frieda L. Malcolm officiating.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105; and or St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 302 St. Alban's Drive, Salisbury, Md. 21804.
