T. Irene Lauchner Gladding Owens

Lake Helen, FL-T. Irene Lauchner Gladding Owens, 96, passed away on June 15, 2017. Born March 30, 1921 on a farm on Monie Creek near Princess Anne in Somerset County to the late James E. and Ethelyn H. Lauchner. She was raised in Princess Anne and graduated from Washington High School. Following graduation she worked at the local dress factory. She met and married Charles Edward Gladding and moved to Oak Hall, VA where she became a very active and loved community member and was an active member of Downing's United Methodist Church. She was made the Postmaster of the Oak Hall Post Office in 1977 and retired in 1982 with 26 years of service. Her husband passed away in 1983. She met and married John W. Owens, January 2, 1988 and moved to Lake Helen, FL, where she lived the balance of her life.

Irene is survived by her husband John W. Owens; one son, Jimmie Gladding; two grandsons, William Rutter and his wife Candice and their children, Grace and Adam Rutter and Ryan Balogh and his fiancée Rachel Melnick; a beloved daughter-in-law, Mary Margaret Gladding; two beloved nieces, Ireva Metcalf (Jim Dunham) and Ferebe Streett and three step children Rose Foxwell (Bobby), John D. And Charles W. Owens.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lauretta Gordon; a son Charles Gladding and one granddaughter, Jaime Aaron.

A Celebration of her life will be held at Downings United Methodist Church in Oak Hall, VA on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at 2PM. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
