Tyler Cordrey Obituary

Tyler James Cordrey

EDEN — The life of Tyler James Cordrey of Eden will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday at Christ United Methodist Church, 211 Phillip Morris Drive in Salisbury. Tyler was lost overboard in the Chesapeake Bay on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011. He was born May 4, 1986 and was the son of Keith and Kathy Cordrey.

He was a 2004 graduate of James M. Bennett High School and graduated from the University of Maryland in 2009.

He was employed at Mars Labs as a computer programmer, where he found many good friends. He was known throughout the office for his habit of bringing his best four-legged pal, Roscoe, to work with him each day. Roscoe was with him and was also lost in the accident. From a very early age Tyler enjoyed the sport of wrestling and traveled many miles to participate in many tournaments. His favorite pastimes included wakeboarding and sharing that skill with others. He later picked up kiteboarding and met many close friends with whom he shared his love of the sport. This led to his next passion, sailing, which he shared with the love of his life, Taylor Rogers, and his younger brother, Nathan.

Tyler was known to always have a big smile on his face and to love all those who came his way, and would offer his help to anyone in need.

He was a member of Allen United Methodist Church and participated in the MYF.

His survivors include, in addition to his parents, his brother, Nathan; his loving girlfriend, Taylor Rogers; his paternal grandmother, Ina Cordrey; his aunt, Diane Lane and her family; and his uncle and aunt, Jack and Carol Cordrey and their family.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Harrington; and paternal grandfather, John Cordrey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, 6 Herndon Ave, Annapolis, Md. 21403.

I am truly saddened to hear about Tyler. Tyler was a wonderful young man and I enjoyed talking to Tyler when he was attending JMB. He was a dedicated student, excellent wrestler and an outstanding, respectful and very polite young man. God bless your soul Tyler. I will miss you.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

No matter how unfair this tradegy is and was, Tyler will always live on. Tyler was able to touch so many people; its practically impossible to count how many. Though he passed away pretty young, he has done so many countless things in his life time. He shall always be in our hearts, as well as mine. My prayers and love go out to Uncle Keith, Aunt Kathy, Taylor, and the rest of the family. I will always cherish the memories I had with him. I'll also spread the love and positivity around, as he had did the same.

Find solace in the knowledge that Tyler is at peace and Heaven has a bright shining star and guiding light for everyone he loved. I never had the privilege of meeting Tyler but if I know nothing else, I know that his friends and family loved him, and that is something that his transition from his mortal body to his heavenly presence will never change. He died doing what he loved in a place that he loved with someone he loved. Few of us will get the chance at that. May he rest in peace and watch over his loved ones for eternity. May God grant you peace and allow you no despair.

Aunt Kathy, Unle Keith, Nathan, and Taylor. I can't belive that Tyler will no longer be with us. It dosen't seem fair, Tyler had just begun scratching the surface with his potential, talent, and skill. Saying that he had just begun sratching the surfce, and looking back at all he has done, lives he has touched, and everyone's life he has changed for the better, and learning just how many people that have put Tyler up on a pedastal makes me so proud. We all know that Tyler will never be fogotten, but at the same time I am going to be honored living out his memories. I love you all very much.

I consider it a privilege and an honor to have known Tyler through Theta Chi. Tyler's seemingly endless passion for life was an inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know him and it is something I will never forget. His genuine personality, happy-go-lucky attitude, and inquisitive nature had the ability to make you smile no matter the situation. My deepest sympathies to Taylor and the Cordrey family.

To be simple is to only condescend into an abyss of lonliness,
Complexity is to only know the pain and hardship,
Where is the in between?
Simpleness and complexity exist in a manifold of love and hate,
Life is simple; just do,
Death is complex; just don't,
But if it were so simple why make it so complex...
Because life is too short, too long, and in some cases, to fragile...
It is with everything that life exists; and within happiness to rejoice his life.~Thomas E. Miller~
My prayers go out to you all! Greatest sympathy for your loss.

They are not dead,
Who leave us this great heritage of remembering joy.

They still live in our hearts,
In the happiness we knew, in the dreams we shared.

They still breathe,
In the lingering fragrance, windblown, from their favourite flowers.

They still smile in the moonlight's silver,
And laugh in the sunlight's sparking gold.

They still speak in the echoes of the words we've heard them say again and again.

They still move,
In the rhythm of waving grasses, in the dance of the tossing branches.

They are not dead;
Their memory is warm in our hearts, comfort in our sorrow.

They are not apart from us, but part of us,

For love is eternal,
And those we love shall be with us throughout all eternity.

Though I did not know Tyler, I can only imagine the type of person he was with such a great mother.
