Hatol

Dr. Augusto Caesar Gracia Hatol, 76, a Deming resident, passed away Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces.
Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Baca's Funeral Chapel where a prayer vigil will begin at 6 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Fr. Joshe Duplissey, Pastor officiating. Cremation will follow at Baca's Mimbres Crematory.
Dr. Hatol graduated from the Philippine Military Academy and served with the Philippine Army and was assigned to the Philippine Customs Authority for a couple of years. He emigrated to the USA with his wife who was the first wave of doctors to be hired in the USA in the 70's. He finished his BS in Psychology at the University of Minnesota, went on to finish his MBA at Bryant College and then continued on with his PHD in Psychology at Boston College.
He settled in Deming in 1992 and locally was active in the community with the Habitat for Humanity as he was one of those who helped create the first housing community under HUD, Mariposa Village. He was also a member of the board for the Luna County Housing Authority, but has not been able to be active due to his failing health. He also managed his wife's medical practice.
He is survived by his wife, Dr. Maria Fe S. Frilles-Hatol, and his son Anky; sisters Julieta, Felicia, Patricia and Irene; brother's Agustin and Emmanuel. He was preceded in death by his father, Feliciano, mother Patricia, and brothers Federico and Manuel.
