Shirley's passing is a loss to many of us. Shirley gave me my first job at Headstart in 1974. She gave me my first job promotion ever, a position she and the Lord created, called Co-teachers. I have learned so much from her. She always told me to strive to be the best I could be no matter what I endeavored to do in child care and education. Shirley was buried the same day and time as my Mother in Riverside Cemetery. They may even be a few feet away from each other. My prayers are with her family. I remember the children well when they were much younger.

Losing someone who has been a part of your life for so many years must be very difficult. May it help to ease the hurt you feel now to know that others care and are thinking of you at this sad time. With sympathy and caring your cousins in Florida love you all.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have known Miss Shirley for a few years. Not very well, but well enough to know that she was an awesome and dynamic lady. She was always quick to offer me a hug whenever I saw her. God has removed one of His angels from our midst. She will be missed by many people, certainly I will miss her.

To the Edwards Family:
Please accept my condolences. God always takes care of his angels. Even though He called her home to ease her sufferings, we will never forget her. It has been a great privilege to work with Shirley and sit besides her at various meetings. Shirley was a woman of great compassion and many both young and old have benefited from having known her. She was like the mayor of Northeast Rochester. I face a major task of keeping NEBCA going in her place. But, I know I will have her spirit beside me to guide me.
Shirley, you will be greatly missed.
God speed- Pat Galante

Shirley Edwards will be missed and always remembered. Her passion and commitment to the northeast area of Rochester and the larger community is notable and inspiring. She always made time for someone seeking assistance, or just a friendly ear. She worked tirelessly to improve quality of life for all, particularly for residents in areas of the city where conditions are rough and resources are scarce.
My thoughts and best wishes are extended to your family and loved ones, which I know span far and wide.
I will always remember you fondly Ms. Edwards.
