Dear Mrs. Duryea,
I came upon this sad news by chance, as I was reminiscing last week about my childhood in Brockport and looking up information on Alva Duryea, who was a favorite neighbor of mine when I was living on Lake Rd. (i lived in the Simeon B. Jewett House).
My memories of your dear daughter, Wendy, are few. Yet she was part of the landscape of my childhood and it was clear in my mind that she was very talented and well-liked. I also remember her as being beautiful and that I thought of her as good-natured. I knew her mostly from a distance as she was almost a year my senior. If my memory is correct, she got the part of Maria for a local production of The Sound of Music. I hope it is alright that I signed this book even though I did not know Wendy personally. I did, however, know her grandmother --who I called Mrs. Duryea--and could always count on her for a friendly chat and something sweet to drink. I have only good memories of the Duryea family and for that reason I am sad that such good people have met with such sad news. Best regards, S.Ryan

I really enjoyed watching Wendy perform in the Middle School plays. I especially liked her as Oliver Twist. My prayer is that her love ones find comfort in their memories and the years they were blessed with Wendy in their lives. RIP Wendy.

Mrs. Duryea and Charlene,
My sincere condolences on the loss of Wendy. I pick up my phone on my way home from work as I did almost everyday the past two years to call her. I miss her so very much and know your hearts are broken too. She was a great friend with a huge heart. Sweet, kind, caring, and funny! She will always be near me in my heart. She is with her dad and I am most certain my mom and dad gave her big hugs upon their reunion. Hoping she is sharing her beautiful singing voice with all the angels in heaven. Praying for peace and strength during the difficult times ahead. With much love, Jill

I am so sorry to hear this, Mrs. Duryea. I remember coming to your home for a cast party after one of the plays (maybe "Oliver" or "Fiddler"?) Wendy was so beautiful and talented. May god bring you peace at this time.

Dear Mrs. Duryea and Charlene,
I am deeply saddened to hear this news of Wendy's passing. Although we lost touch after high school, I saw her a couple of years ago and we had a nice conversation- it was like not a day had passed since I had last seen her. I will always remember the fun we had on her mini-bike, golf carts, army jeeps and swimming in the pool. We had wonderful conversations about growing up and she was a true friend to me. She was patient when helping me with math homework and made great scrambled eggs! I told Wendy when I saw her last how special those years were to me and how kind you and Mr. Duryea always were. Those memories were always so special. They are even more special and forever cherished now. Heaven is a bit more angelic with Wendy's beautiful voice singing as we all remember. Wendy will always be that special, forever friend of mine! Sending love. ~Kelly O'Brien Salomone

It's been years since I saw or spoke to you, but I remember we shared the same, exact birthday. I have a lot of fun memories talking with you on the bus home from school. Always so kind to everyone...
