My mother strength is so powerful that it rubed off on us 3 kids. She got her strength from the very source which is Christ Jesus. All we have to do is lift up our hands 2 God and worship him no matter how many millions of problems we have. Then he will give us the anointing powerful fire that takes all our burdens aways. Mom's was always dancing and worshiping Jesus, lifting up her hands saying, THANK YOU JESUS!!!! That's what mom's did. I am learning so much more about mom's, Wow how many thousands of peoples were blessed and touched by my mom's. AWESOME!!
These are sad times But mom's always said do not cry 4 me, I am ready 2 be with my Lord. She was at a peace that only God can give. (Phil 4:7)
I love you always and you will never, EVER be forgotten. I am at peace and I know that mommy is with the King and we will see her again soon.

Zulma,
I'm so glad I had the privilege of knowing you. No matter what you were going through, you were always so positive and always had a beautiful smile. I thank God for you and for the fact that you were one of my mom's best friends. She loved you as if you were one of her sisters. You always knew how to make my mom smile and uplift her spirits when she was going through a rough time. I'm thankful for all of the times you have kept our extended family in prayer and we have already begun to see God move in our family. As I'm writing in this entry, what comes to my mind is the bowling get-together we had about 2 years ago with all our friends....I remember how excited you were when you got your first spare: o) and most recently, about 6-8 months ago, we bumped into you at Zebb's and you were eating by yourself so my family and I pulled you from your table and had you join us. I'm so glad that we spent that time with you....it wasn't planned, but it was perfect! Zulma, you will be missed but we can rejoice knowing that you are before the King of Kings suffering no more. You were a wonderful mother, a great friend and an awesome woman of God…..you have left such a wonderful legacy for your children.

You will forever be in our hearts :)

With Love,

My dear aunt Zulma was a very special woman. She was such a blessing in my life and I am so proud to be named after her. She was beautiful, intelligent, honest, a wonderful mother, the best aunt anyone can ever have and most important a Powerful
Woman of God. I remember being able to talk to her about anything and she listened to all that I had to say. She always had the perfect words of wisdom. I learned so much from her. I love you and I will miss you dearly Titi Zulma. I rememember clearly that last phone conversation we had and you gave me such and inspiration my Faith just grew in the Lord because of you. I know that one day we will see eachother again in Heaven with our Creator. I love you Titi Zulma. You beloved niece, Zulma.

I haven't seen you in years but I'll remember you always. It was your sincere look that drew me, in 1987 and at the age of 20 I was pregnant confused and hopeless and you love for Christ drew me. I can only imagine that my Savior's eyes will be like yours, full of love and compassion. Thank you for loving him. Nos vemos pronto amiga Mia.

Zulma ... a gentle spirit. A woman who stored up God's words in her ? and lived by them. She believed in pursuing her education and accomplished it with pride, as she wanted to be an example to her children and to single mothers out there.

Zulma's joy however, was in studying God's word and sharing the revelation of such word with others. I remember co-facilitating a Purpose Driven class with her. Every time we discussed the lesson, she would always be in awe of God's truth for that week. I remember in her discoveries she would always say "Verdad, oh wow or hay padre!" ("Right!" in Spanish) and giving an abundant smile -- unique to those of us who knew her know what I mean :).

Zulma was a prayer warrior and an inspiration. Her faith in God was evident in spite of life's complexities. Zulma knew her purpose and despite cancer, it energized her life ... everything she was involved in had meaning and it showed. She used her giftings, talents, opportunities, energy, relationships and resources to show the love of God to others.

After all ... like we learned from our Purpose Driven class: What on Earth Am I Here For? Zulma can confidently look at her Savior and say ... I did it Jesus, I accomplished my earthly purpose!

"[God's] plans endure forever; his purposes last eternally." Psalm 33:11

I will always remember you my dear sister and friend. Thanks for touching my life.

Love, Rachel S.

I will always remember everything you did for me. How you inspired me to do everything I thought was impossible. You were there for me when I felt like things were at there worst. When the whole world was against me you were there to guide me through it. I will never forget that. Your smile always brought joy through the pain. Thank you for giving me love, faith, wisdom and happiness. You were the feathers to my wings, so that I can soar higher than ever in my life. In your memory, Mami, I make one true and honest promise, to always live my life as you would have wanted me to by putting God first and trusting in him the way I trusted in you, with that placed in my heart. I will find happiness, faith and joy in my life through God. You taught me all I know so far, I know that god will take care of me, The way he took care of you, So be at peace. Thank you mami for all the inspiration.

Mami,
God didn't promise days without pain, Laughter without sorrow or sun without rain.
But God did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and a light for the way, And for all who believe in his kingdom above, He answers their faith with ever lasting love.

I'll keep you in my heart forever till the day we meet again.

Love always,
Felito...

Although I didn't know Zulma all that well other than greetings & smiles here and there, I am greatful for the woman of God she was. I never got to personally thank her for her fervant prayers. Zulma was a dear friend to my sister Wilma Rodriguez and together they prayed for me without cease. I do however remember the look of joy on her face whenever she saw me in church..it was as if "she could see the rewards of her prayers paid off! I thank God for woman & men like her that never stopped praying for me. My condolences to the family. Although this is a hard time of loss for you now, rest in these comforting words.."Zulma beat us to glory and is now in heaven signing praises to her king"! No more pain, no more sorrow.

Danny, Felix and Erica,
Our deepest sympathies go to your family. Your mother was loved by so many especially our family. We have fond memories from our days in Holyoke to her last days. She will be greatly missed. Her long talks with my mom about anything and everything were priceless to her. Just know that you are family to us and always will be. Your mother was a good Christian woman and like Christ, she spread her goodness to all she met. Have faith that we will all reunite again and remember the good times. May you be blessed and Jehovah be with you.

Zulma, a wonderful friend and co-worker with the victim assistance in the courts. I met Zulma in Santidad Pentecostal on Clinton, where she served the Lord and the Saints for years. There we gathered for Bible Studies, Worship, and fellowship. I will always remember her faith, her gentle smile, and how she loved to talk about Jesus. She was there for me when i needed to put my eyes upon Jesus. She did not give up on me. She shared her personal life to bring me comfort and hope. I will not forget you. with love, Ada Santiago

My precious friend Zulma! Many many sweet memories from our Bible Study which was held many times in her home when in Holyoke. This was the roots for many who now know the Lord Jesus as their personal savior, and have entered into a relationship with him where others get to know Christ through their lives. This thought describes Zulma to me. Through her life, We have gotten to know Christ. Zulma IS truly Christ-like. Knowing He stood up to greet her as she came home is a precious thought for me. I've never stopped praying for the kids and will continue to do so daily.

Although my heart is overcome with great sadness of the news , I know that my sweet sister-in-Christ is now with God and free of pain and suffering! I met Zulma in 1989 in the ministry in Springfield, MA. We were both single moms and had much in common. We spent precious times together, sharing our faith and encouraging one another in the task of life and motherhood. What I remember most about Zulma is that she was a strong woman of faith, determined, loving, and so comitted, not only to her own family but all with whom she came in contact with. She loved helping others and her life was such an amazing example of Christ! A heart to serve! I am so immensely honored and blessed to have had the privilaege and oppoortunity to meet and know her and I know it is not 'Good Bye' for those who are in Christ. We will indeed be reunited with our loved ones! My sincere and heartfelt prayers go out to her 3 beautiful children Daniel, Felix, and Erica.

Dear Friends and Family,
I had the priveledge of knowing Zulma for about 20yrs. During that time, I saw a passion for souls and a love for God that never waivered in Zulma. Together we walked through several physical challenges but never once did I hear her say anything but "I could do all things in Christ who strengthens me". We always believed that if God did it once, He can do it again and he did untill it was time to go to her heavenly home. My wife and I spent many wonderful moments with Zulma and we will always be inspired by her faith in God. Our deepest condolences to Felito, Erica and Danny in this time of bereavement. We love you. My mother Zulma was the BEST! she reminds me of her lord Jesus Christ. He is a cool dude. He didn't chill with the pharasees who so called knew God. He always beef with them. They did not care for the sick and lost. Christ chilled with outcast (sinners) the sick, blind, deaf and pain. He touched and loved them all, just like mommy did. All her life she put everyone before her especcially us, her kids. She was not selfish one bit. All she did was help those who needed help emotionally, physically and especially spiritualy. She was cool also like the one who she followed. We will miss her greatly, BUT we will meet againg someday Mom we love you and you will never be forgotten. Thank you so much for not giving up on me ever, especially when everyone else did. Thank you for everything you have taught me and shared with me. Thank you 4 helping me and others. Thank you for being a good mother 2 us, thank you 4 believing in us. I love you mom!!
we all love you!!

In memory of my friend and sister Zulma Ortiz:

I first met Zulma in 1999 when she invited me to be a panelist

at a conference on the Hispanic Church and the issue of AIDS.

Then in Janurary of 2008 she invited me to attend a series of

which she was conducting for the Hispanic support group

of the Guilda Club, a support group for cancer survivors. During

those years, Zulma became my very close friend. We dined and

had coffee occasionally. We remained in touch during and after

my relocation to Raleigh, North Carolina. She was so kind, loving,

and supportive to all who knew her. I will miss her gentleness,

kindness, and her beautiful smile which she had for all people

I praise God for her life and for the legacy which she left all of us.

My love and support to Daniel, Felix, and Erica.
