Christopher Teeter Obituary
It is with great sadness that we report the death of Captain Christopher ("Kit") Teeter. Kit passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at the age of 62 in Saint Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. There, he lost an unexpectedly short but very brave battle against an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer. In the end, Kit was surrounded by his wife, Wendy; his three daughters, Cassie, Kinsey, and Kyleigh; and the love of many family members and friends. He will be remembered for his easygoing demeanor, impeccably quick wit, unwavering spirit, and willingness to always help a friend in need.
Kit was born in Annapolis, Maryland in 1961 and grew up in Krum, Texas. Since his childhood, Kit has always been an active person. He was always on the go. He enjoyed various sports, riding his motorcycles, going to the gym, and doing absolutely anything outside. This included boating with his daughters and wife, running, mountain biking, exploring new cities and countries, scuba diving, and more.
He gained his work ethic early in life, as he worked on wheat harvests in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. To put himself through college, Kit worked on the ramp at Delta Airlines in Dallas, Tulsa, and Orlando. Despite his self-proclaimed and ironic fear of heights, he decided on an aviation career and began pilot training after he graduated from the University of North Texas in 1984. He then taught flying lessons at the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Daytona. His first flying job was with Bar Harbor, then Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA), until he found his home at FedEx in 1995. Throughout his successful 28-year career at FedEx, he has flown the Boeing-727, the Airbus, the MD-11, and the Boeing-777. During his time there, Kit was able to see and experience what the world has to offer and make a multitude of very rewarding and long-lasting friendships.
Kit was devoted to his family. He loved to attend yearly Teeter family reunions at the beach, grab frequent lunches with his friends, visit his parents in Texas or Arkansas, take numerous and exotic vacations with Wendy, and spend time with his daughters, whether that be in their college towns or back at home. He was always checking in with everyone and was never further than a phone call away. With his relaxed perspective and wealth of life experiences, he made an excellent problem-solver and confidant for his loved ones. Kit was an even-tempered Texan, a straight arrow. He was one of the good guys and his loss is one that is felt widely and deeply. There are few people who are loved better than Christopher Teeter.
Kit is survived by his wife, Wendy Almon; his three daughters, Cassie, Kinsey, and Kyleigh Teeter; his parents Barbara and Ruskin Teeter; and an abundance of other family members and close friends.
A remembrance service for Kit will be held on Saturday, December 21, at 10:30 AM, at Jackson Cemetery, FM 156, south of downtown Krum, TX. Open bar and lunch to follow at Miguelito's in Krum.
