Nancy Morgan Obituary

Nancy Morgan

On December 5th, 2020, Nancy Morgan, loving mother, foster mother, and daughter passed away peacefully in her sleep, the day after her 66th birthday.

Nancy was born December 4th, 1954 at Perrin Air Force Base in North Texas to George and Melinda Morgan and was the eldest of 5 siblings. She graduated Valedictorian from Sadler Southmayd High School where she was a bona fide track star, earning more than a dozen medals in both relays and discus. Prior to retiring to California, September 2018 to live with her son Terry and daughter-in-law Jenny, Nancy worked managing the office at Rock On Framing in Denton, TX. Nancy was an avid reader known for her quick wit, generous heart, and infectious charisma.

Nancy moved around the country her whole life and met many friends everywhere she lived. She enjoyed spending time bragging about (and greatly exaggerating) her son's accomplishments to all these friends on a regular basis. She also enjoyed reiterating the exaggerated stories she'd heard of these friends' children. Occasionally she even dabbled in exaggerating stories about herself and her siblings as well. She was an amazing storyteller.

Another of her favorite pastimes was cooking, second only to telling others what they were doing wrong when they were cooking. Singing karaoke with a group of close friends was one of the fondest times in her life. Her go-to solo was "Crazy" by Patsy Cline. With friends Kathy, Sandy, and their other vocally gifted friends, they would usually sing songs along the lines of Mr. Sandman, Sh-Boom, and The Lion Sleeps Tonight (I'll give you a moment to go through the opening melody.... Ok, shall we continue?).

At Christmas with her family, everyone would request she tell her favorite joke about the big mouth frog, which no one else could tell quite as well. She loved Christmas and the decorations and trees that came with it, but mostly the time spent with her doting family. Nancy was a poet at heart (and in practice.) Her son still has several of her writings and will cherish them for years to come. With a personality as big as the Texas she was born in, her presence will be felt long from now and will be reflected in the lives of those she loved and those who love her.

Nancy was preceded in death by her grandmother Olivia Tilley, her father George Morgan, her sister Theresa Black, her sister Kathleen Box, and her uncle Tom Tilley. She is survived by her mother Melinda Morgan, her son Terry E. Reese, Jr, her daughter-in-law Jenny Reese, her sister Evelyn Herndon (James), brother George Morgan (Kim), Brother- in Law, Glenn Reese, Sister-in-law Janice Reese, Uncles Van, Dick, and Bill Tilley, honorary sons Michael, Kasey, Jeremy and Jesse Villareal and numerous loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a date not yet determined due to COVID travel restrictions. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to:
