Bonita Fronapfel Obituary

Bonita Marie Fronapfel was born in Murdock, Minnesota on 23 November 1932 to Peter and Marie Schuman. She spent her childhood in Clara City, Minnesota with her brother Eugene (who preceded Bonita in his death) and her three sisters, Carole, Patricia, and Cathy, all surviving Bonita. Bonita moved to Colorado in 1952. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Harold, whom she met on a blind date in 1954. Together, they parented ten children - seven boys, and three girls. She is survived by nine of her ten children, their spouses, children, grand children, and great grand children: Tom and Connie Fronapfel, daughters Quinn, Brighid, and Molly; Jim and Cyndi Fronapfel, daughter Jennifer, sons Matthew and Jacob; Karen and John Braketa, sons Christopher, Jeremy, and Tyler; Mike and Wendy Fronapfel, daughter Mikayla; Gretchen Fronapfel and Ron Duley; Lori McManus, daughter Dani, sons Ryan and Kyle; Ed and Diane Fronapfel, son Scott, daughter Heidi; Eric and Melanie Fronapfel, sons Zach, Alec, and Keenan; and P.J. and Elisa Fronapfel, daughter Payton, sons Noah and Ethan. Bonita was preceded in death by her second child, Steve (born 1957, died 2004), but survived by his spouse and children: Jean Fronapfel, sons David, Nick, Cameron, Tim, Trent, and daughter Aryka. In addition to raising and managing this large household, Bonita was active in the church and community. She held a range of jobs and activities during her life from bank teller in Minnesota, bridal registrar at Joslins, to assistant aide and librarian at Warder Elementary School. She not only had a houseful of her own children, but for many years opened up her home to a multitude of international exchange students. She actively engaged for years in a variety of hobbies including arranging flowers, creating dip and drape dolls, sewing clothing, draperies, and bed covers, making Christmas ornaments, cooking, and being an active fan and parent manager of dozens of sports teams. Bonita was an active and contributing member of the Catholic Church - rarely missing a service on a Sunday or Holy Day until the last months of her life, where she would do the best she could to at least watch mass on television. She dedicated many hours of her time and generously gave what she could to the church and other charity. Bonita inspired countless family members, friends, and strangers with her limitless generosity love, and creativity. Her selfless kindness and love touched people across the globe. She was the embodiment of Christ's command to love others as you love yourself. She never met anyone with whom she couldn't have a conversation, share her thoughts, or for whom she wouldn't offer help in any way possible. Bonita will be forever cherished and loved by all those whom she touched with her kindness. A celebration of her life will be held on Tues., 7/17/18 at 1:00pm, Spirit of Christ Catholic Community, 7400 W. 80th Ave., Arvada, CO 80003 Donations in her honor can be provided to TRU Community Care (www.trucare.org/product/donation/), the hospice service that helped Bonita pass to the next phase of life in a comfortable, peaceful, dignified manner and leave behind the painful bonds of this earth.
