Jeffrey Longley Obituary

Longley, Jeffrey Scott

Sometime between the end of his shift on Saturday July 15 and the start of his next shift on Monday July 17, Jeff Longley unexpectedly expired on his couch, watching sports. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Megan (Littleton), his father Bill (Overland Park, KS), his mother Ruth (Rogers, AR) and brother Mike (Rogers, AR), his friends, colleagues and staff as well as thousands of patients and clients. All have been shocked and saddened with the news of his demise.
Longley was born on May 24, 1967 in Halifax, Nova Scotia and spent time there and in Boston, Dallas and Kansas City before going to college at Kansas State, where he rowed crew and graduated with a degree in veterinary medicine in May of 1992.
He started his career in Las Vegas before moving to Denver in 1994 to practice at SE Area Veterinary Medical Center. He was there until 2004, when he moved to practice in Seattle, and then moved back to Denver to work at Lone Tree Veterinary center in 2007 and then at VCA Mountainview in 2012. It was there at Mountainview where Dr. Longley came into his own. Promoted to medical director, he became the leader and drove the business per his parameters: Longley felt strongly that it was important to communicate with "pet parents" to ensure they had the information, resources and knowledge to provide proper nutritional and optimal care for their favorite companions. His hope was that this crucial information would provide each client with the best chance that their companions would live long, happy and healthy lives. This approach worked well for all parties involved.
Besides rowing, Jeff was an avid cyclist and participated in many events here in Colorado such as the Triple Bypass and the Children's Hospital Courage Classic. And well, he liked watching sports on the magic box, so….

You were the best vet I've ever known! You took such great care with our Yorkie Chloe - and you even came in on your day off when it was her time to cross the rainbow bridge. She was never afraid to see you, and neither have our cattle dogs ever been afraid in your calm presence. Our hearts go out to your family - you are missed by everyone who knew you. Love and condolences to your loved ones. Karen and Dave, Katie, Hazel and Maya

You took such great care of my big ole Frenchie after he was diagnosed with Autoimmune disease at just 20 months. Your concern for him was so sincere. You would answer emails and texts immediately. You ar a Fantastic Vet and also a very kind man. My pup actually liked going to the Vets office. Its because he knew he would be seeing you. We will never be able to replace you. Our hearts are broken. RIP, Dr. Longley and Thank you for making me a better pet owner
