Margaret M. “Peggy McMahon

Margaret McMahon Obituary

Margaret M. "Peggy" McMahon died on April 7, 2018. She was 73. A native of Denver, Peggy graduated from St. Mary's Academy (where she later served on the Board), attended Manhattanville College, graduated from the University of Denver and received her law degree from The George Washington University Law Center. She enjoyed a remarkable career as an attorney with the US Department of Justice, as an international banker in Japan, and in real estate practice in Colorado. She opened the Denver Trade Office in London and later served as the trade liaison between Colorado and Northern Ireland. Peggy was extraordinarily gifted at re-inventing herself to meet new challenges while nurturing life-long friendships. Her parents, Dr. and Mrs. B. T. McMahon, predeceased her. She is survived by her cherished children, Homer Reid, Sommerville, Erin Reid (Eliot Brockner), New York City, and Kate Reid, San Francisco. Her sisters, Nancy McMahon (Denver) and Cathy McMahon (Pasadena) also survive her. She valued her strong ties with her extended family, the Bransfields of Chicago. On May 18, 2018 Reverend Marty Lally will celebrate Mass for Peggy with the immediate family in attendance. On Saturday, May 19, there will be a memorial in Peggy's honor at the Brown Palace Hotel at 2:00 pm. All who wish to join her family in celebrating her life are most welcome.

I had the great privilege of working with Peggy when she was the City of Denver's Trade Rep in London. I regret having lost contact with her. She'll be deeply missed. Always cheerful, incredibly smart and true asset to the Mayor and the City of Denver. ANDREW HUDSON
