When I think of Mar, and I often do, my thoughts take me to all of the wonderful times that we spent together. Although I moved away, we remained great friends. To say that I love and appreciate her is an understatement. She was a true friend. She loved me in spite of my shortcomings and failings and it wasn't until she was gone that I realized what a really true friend she was. She was and still is a blessing to have as a friend. She raised an amazing family and I send my thoughts and prayers to them.

Marlene and my mom Juanita (Wani) Haley were inseparable in high school. Their friendship was one of my mom's oldest and most favorite. Marlene told me many stories of that friendship after my mom passed away in 2007. She was a salt of the earth woman who was always kind and sweet. I am truly sorry for your loss. She will live on in all of you.
Much love,
Hayley Clark-Johnson and Family

From the time we were 6 years old, Marlene, was a true and loving friend. I will miss our talks, her beautiful smile, her amazing sense of humor and her positive attitude. She had an amazing memory and could remember names of our elementary school teachers and fellow students. She always had a ready smile. I am blessed to have had her for a friend for 73 years and my heart hurts at the thought of losing her. She loved her family and I send them my deepest condolences, my thoughts and my prayers. Mar was a very special person and I love her dearly. May her memory light up your lives, put a smile on your face and give you courage. Yo
