I met Steve, accidentally in a parking lot at a grocery store i was working at, in the early 80s. His girlfriend, had damage his vehicle there, while I was out pushing buggies. I was also working at a bodyshop part time, and offered to help... I was talking to his girlfriend, when he stepped out the store and walked over.... he seem like a giant! I thought he was gonna kill me for talking to his girl! But an absolute amazing guy. I didn't even know he was a wrestler until he came to the shop the following day. Godspeed Steve.

I´m glad my son got to meet you. He had 3 mentors and heroes in his life. You took him in the ring at the age of 5 and showed him what he called his sugar hold and won his first Hvwt State Championship and said we need to call Mr. Williams I used my sugar hold to wear him down! He forgot Doc was gone. My son went on wrestling in high school and playing football with Doc on his mind. He is now 19 with a full ride playing football for university of St. Mary in KS. Still talks about Doc the thing he told him and showed him. Doc was in a pretty good group of his mentors Danny Hodge and James Harris (Kamala) who would talk to him when he wasn´t performing good.

To all the williams family,
I wish tell you that I am so sorry for your loss.
Steve was a humble guy, the guy I knew in high school was a great competor fought hard on the field,as well as in wrestling, and yet he was so quiet and shy, when he met a friend if mine he wanted to ask her out and just really wasn't sure how,he had the biggest heart and the strength of an Iron Man, my favorite memory of him will always be how he could carry 2 kegs (big) of beer up a hill like it was nothing. a few of us got together after his service and was talking about it,and all of us laughed...yes that will always be how I rememer the Steve I knew.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Steve Williams. My only personal encounter with Steve was to drive him from the ECW arena in Philly to the airport after a show at the old "Bingo Hall". He shared with me how much he loved his family, especially his son. I realized in an instant what a special and good person Steve was. So sorry he had to suffer with cancer, but now he must be at peace with the Lord.

It was a real privilege to meet one of the greats from Oklahoma back in the early summer of 2003 "Dr. Death" Steve Williams after an MLW Wrestling Pay-Per-Viaew show with my best friend who were talking to him about his UWF title reigns in "Cowboy" Bill Watts' promotion in the 80s until he was wrestling in the NWA/WCW & also in Japan as well too. You was one of the best single's & also tag team partner that anyone could ever have or wanted. Your memory in the Professional Wrestling business will never die or leave us wrestling fans who had met you as well as knew you as well & you are now in a much better place with all of the other late Professional Wrestling legends up in HEAVEN now. May you Rest In Peace "Doc" & also we(your fans) will see you up there in the Big Wrestling Ring in the sky someday or sometime too. God Bless You Steve. My condolences are with your family & other friends & fans too.

I've known Steve for most of my life - more than 40 years, and it's hard to believe that this man, a giant in so many ways, is gone. I have incredible memories of trying but always failing year after year to beat him at the softball throw during our Eiber field day competitions. We literally grew up together from elementary school to high school and, while our life paths took us in different directions, it was always a pleasure to catch up with him at reunions. We were able to spend some quality time reminiscing at the LHS 30 year reunion in 2008. My memories of the golf tournament and the Sunday picnic will remain with me forever. Steve was so great with our boys. Even though many other people wanted his time, he took them aside and gave them some one on one time, regaling them with stories of his greatest matches and greatest opponents. It was a generous gesture on his part and they came away from their encounter with "Dr. Death" as confirmed fans. They were in awe of him.
The world has lost a colorful and unique individual, a free spirit and a showman, and that’s a loss for all who knew him. On the other hand, heaven looks to have made out pretty well in the bargain. While Steve is no longer with us physically, he’ll always be with us in our hearts and our memories. I'll miss you Steve, and I'll always remember you. Rest in peace, friend. You’ve fought the good fight and you’ve earned it. To Steve's immediate and extend family, I offer my and my family's sincerest condolences.

I took my son and daughter to a wrestling match in Ferriday, La years ago and Dr. Death along with "Jake the Snake" were there. Little did I know that one day my son, Mitch, would one day marry Dr. Death's daughter, Stormy. We all had a great time at their wedding and Steve enjoyed "hamming it up" and having his picture made with everyone, especially putting some of the guys in a headlock. I hope he didn't do the Oklahoma Stampede on St. Peter as he went thru those Pearly Gates. May you rest in peace, Steve.
