Grandpa I wrote a poem for you!

For My Grandpa
I know we are feeling alittle bit sad, that we lost our grandpa, our friend and our dad.Together we have cried an ocean of tears, and I feel so empty and hold so many fears.

but Grandpa would want us to know he's in a good place and he's watching us with a smile on his face as we have made him proud,as proud as can be that he has raised such a beautiful and special family.

I feel lucky and privileged to have known Grandpa to this day for in my life, you have played a special part the memories I will tresure and keep close to my heart.

And to all of us,be grateful, his life is now complete.
To each one of us he has loved and cared and a family,be thankful for the good times we shared

Although Grandpa you are gone we will always be together, and your spirit will live in me forever, when I look to the sky I will look for the brightest star and I know you will be looking down from afar.

And now Lord I want to thank you for blessing me with my Grandpa with he's kindness and Love,Please take extra special of my Grandpa he is very dear to me.

Grandpa say a prayer for me everyday be sure to protect me and guide me on my way.I know when God called you,you had to go,but I want you to know Grandpa I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU SO!!

Jackson loved his "brothers & sisters" and always said we are all God's children. I dedicate a poem I wrote to my dear friend and brother, Jackson!

TONIGHT AS I SIT AND GAZE AT THE STARS
MY MIND GOES BACK TO A TIME--
A SMILING PLACE, A HAPPY FACE,
ALL MY LOVE FOR A DEAR BROTHER OF MINE.

DAYS AND WEEKS OF MEMORIES
ARE WHAT'S LEFT OF WHAT I KNEW--
MY HEART IS HEAVY, MY SPIRIT IS SAD
FOR UNSHARED MOMENTS WITH YOU.

YET AS I SIT HERE QUIETLY
GAZING AT THE HEAVENS ABOVE, SUDDENLY
THROUGH MY TEARS I SEE YOUR FACE
AND IN MY HEART I FEEL YOUR LOVE.

YOU HAVE JUST GONE AHEAD, JACKSON
TO WHERE I WILL SOMEDAY BE--
SURROUNDED BY THE SAVIORS' LOVE
THROUGH THE VEIL, TOWARD ETERNITY.

IF I COULD, I KNOW I WOULD
TELL YOU ONE MORE TIME--
THAT FOREVER AND EVER YOU'LL ALWAYS HAVE
ALL MY LOVE DEAR BROTHER OF MINE.

SO WHEN STARS FADE WITH THE MORNING LIGHT AND I PREPARE TO SAY GOODBYE--
I KNOW THEY ARE NOT GONE OR LOST
FOR THEY COME IN VIEW OF ANOTHERS' EYES.

SO I KNOW JACKSON IN MY HEART
AS I MISS YOU SO TONIGHT--
THAT OTHERS WAITED ACROSS THE VEIL
TO LEAD YOU TOWARD HIS LIGHT.

SO I WILL NOT SAY GOODBYE
BECAUSE THE ETERNAL TIES DO BIND---
MY LOVE FOR YOU ALWAYS
DEAREST BROTHER OF MINE.

I had the pleasure of spending time with Jackson as his caregiver. He tought me so much, especially how to cook. Things like barbeque sause, apple butter, jambali, and even ox tail. We would sit and talk for hours or play cards clear into the night, and he always won. EXCEPT, a couple of nights before he passed on. I had the pleasure of going to Genesis with him on Sunday, and he said he only let me beat him because I went to church with him. His memories of him will live on in my heart forever. Having known him has made me a better person. I love that man heart and soul...we all do. I look Sampson home with me and although he seems sad, at least he is with someone whom loved him dearly...God bless you Jackson and everyone who knew him....

Alan was an amazing man. He took great pleasure in calling all of his ward members on their birthdays. We still have a recording he left us when our son turned ten (over a year ago) because we love to hear his friendly and genuine voice. We will miss you Brother Jackson!

Grandpa, Words cannot begin to express how deeply saddened I am with loosing you. You meant so much to me & I will always love you with all of my heart…it breaks me down every time I think of how I will never hear you say “how’s Grandpas sweet heart doing”. However, I know that you’ve gone on to a better place. I am grateful to God that you were able to live a long, full life and was able to share that with so many. I learned a lot from you and will never forget the many nights we spent at the kitchen table drinking coffee, listening to your stories and playing cards. Grandpa I miss you so much and am glad that I was able to go home in February to visit you; listen to more stories, hold your hand as I cried when you told me to be strong, everything will be okay. I learned allot from you and will pass that along to my son. Until we meet again old man… I love you!

Jackson had such an impact on my life, as well as the life of his "partner", my 8 year old son, and the lives of so many. He was amazing to talk to, and had no problem answering questions about his life. I loved our root-beer float and ride day with him. I loved hearing how he finally felt like the hero he was. He has his dancing legs back now. He is missed, and loved, and will NEVER be forgotten.

I always enjoyed visiting Alan. Not once did I ever visit him and not feel better when I left than when I arrived. He shared so much with everyone and made the world a better place for all of us. He will be missed. His birthday calls always cheered me up. I was thinking about his birthday this months and what to do when I heard that he was gone. I Love him.

I will always remember Jackson as a great American Hero. He has touch my heart, and is an insperation to us all. What short time I was able to visit with him, He talked about his life and experiences; if only we could be as fortunate to experience what he saw and learned, we would understand our past.
I will think of him always. God Bless You Allan.

Jackson is a hero in every since of the word, at times he was bigger than life. Thanks Jackson for the precious memories you have given me, a gift of love like no other.
The day God called home his very best; is the day a lot of hearts were broken. Today most is shattered.

Eleanor Roosevelt once said – “Friends will come and go in your life but only true friends will leave their footprints on your heart.”

Jackson was a hero to many kids who had the good luck of growing up in Kearns, always in search of their “Hero’s” the Camp Kearns men. Up until six short years ago he was a face without a name known only as “Hero” Since that time he proudly served on the Board of Directors of the Kearns Historical Society, and when people heard Jackson was coming to town everyone came out to meet him, say hello and take his picture. It was so awesome watching Jackson sit so proud and met new people, he loved it. We were always looking for more Camp Kearns men, together; he was always explaining the different things to me. We talked a million times, moved mountains and found information that I had always thought was impossible. So many times when I was asked to speak on the history of Camp Kearns, Jackson was right there, he was always the one in the front roll, the one that was sitting the tallest with a huge smile on his face. My proudest moments was telling people; “this is Jackson the last man to leave Camp Kearns locking the gates behind him, and by the way did I mention he is only 105 years old.” We could turn more heads at any given time. I’ll never forget the time he tried to teach me some dance steps, at 100 years old he was perfect, I was the clumsy one, who couldn’t stand up on two feet let alone hop or slide on one foot. After trying to teach me just one step he decided I was a lost cause when it came to dancing, and laughed till he was in tears. I was asked if I was his daughter and quickly I said yes, the man gave me a funny look and I just smiled and said, “You would have to cut our hearts out to prove us wrong.” Upon Jackson learning of this he just laughed and said, “Sweetheart don’t give anyone an idea around here, what are we going to do when they decide they better.” I informed him that they would have to catch us he would have to hop on my back and let me run with him. Behind the huge smile came his words of great wisdom – “Can you run better than you can dance?”
Tuesday we sent home to God the best we had to offer, and now many of us are left with emptiness in our hearts and souls. He didn’t make it to his birthday party, but I bet he is having a heck of a party now; he is dancing up a storm making people laugh and sharing his heart and love with those he has missed. Yesterday he was my right hand man, my side kick, my friend my hero and what a ride it was.

“A childhood hero is never forgotten but always remembered with love.”

I love you!
