Anthony Trello Obituary

1923 ~ 2014
Anthony "Tony" Theodore Trello, age 91, passed away April 16, 2014, at his home in Sandy, Utah with his family by his side. Tony was born in Trinidad, Colorado on March 13, 1923, to Adella Vigil and Baldazar Trello. He was the oldest of two children, having a younger brother Bill, who preceded him in death. He grew up in Denver, Colorado and graduated from North High School where he was a member of the wrestling and baseball teams. After graduating, Tony worked as an apprentice electrician with the hopes of becoming an electrical engineer. But WWII broke out, putting that dream on hold. Tony enlisted in the Air Force and became an air traffic controller serving in the Air Corps until the war ended.
While serving in the Air Corps, Tony was traveling home on leave, when he met a beautiful young women, Iva Gay Powell, who later became his wife. They spent most of their married life in Visalia, California where he worked as an auditor for the State of California. They moved to Montrose, Colorado for a few years before retiring to Utah.
He is survived by three daughters: Leslie Sermon (Brad) of West Jordan, Utah, Kathy Hodges (Scott) of Taylorsville, Utah, and Stephanie Chapman (John) of Seattle, Washington. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Tony was an avid fisherman, loved to camp, play fast pitch ball and was a much beloved Boy Scout leader for much of his life. He was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Tony loved his family but missed his beautiful wife, Gay daily and wanted nothing more than to be with her again.
Funeral service will be held Monday, April 21st 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South. Family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service. "Tony the Tiger" as I called him was an amazing man. I knew Tony as a good example, a friend, a fun-loving scout leader and devoted ward member. My condolences to the Tello family.

Tony and Gay Trello have a special place in my memories growing up in Visalia, CA and attending the Visalia Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My deepest condolences to their family whom, while sad, are most likely grateful that their parents are once again together.
