Beverly Hodgkinson Obituary

1927 ~ 2017
Beverly Hodgkinson completed her fourth and final mortal mission on Sunday, July 2, 2017 and joined her eternal companion of nearly fifty years following almost twenty years of separation. As a member of the LDS Church, she was not only faithful but full of faith as well. To her, there was nothing that couldn't be accomplished with heartfelt prayer.
Bev was a memory maker for all who knew her. Who could forget her infectious sense of humor or the sparkle in her eye whenever she greeted you? She made friends wherever she lived including Utah, Colorado and Arizona. Her talent in music was shared with so many as she accompanied soloists, taught scores of piano students, and served as accompanist to the Mesa Academy choirs. Many will also remember her deep, tenor voice as she sang in choirs and quartets.
Hundreds will remember Bev for her love of knitting and will continue to appreciate the hand-knitted, personalized Christmas stockings that hang from their mantels each holiday season.
Service could have been her middle name. Whether in the New Zealand, Washington, D C., or Hawaii missions, or as a supervisor in the Mesa Temple, or just to neighbors, friends or even people she didn't know, she was always willing to do all in her power to help in any way she could.
She will be missed, but never forgotten.
Bev is survived by her four children, Terri (Lanse) Larsen, Clark (Wendy) Hodgkinson, Sue (Kent) Cornwall, Barb (Richard) Vance, who were not only her children, but also her closest friends. Also 22 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 10, 2017 with a visitation 1 hour prior at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5350 E. Mclellan Rd. in Mesa. Burial will be held at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery in Bountiful, Utah.

I'm so sorry this sweet lady is gone. We loved her too. Talked to her last earlier this year. We have great memories of her here in Midway and also from Mesa. We visited her numerous times even stayed in her condo a time or two and went to church with her in her ward and enjoyed the wonderful lemons from her tree. She was a beautiful Christ-like person.
Our love and condolences to her family.

Aunt Beverly always made us feel welcome and loved. She always had a smile and a word of praise for everyone she came in contact with. We always looked for her and Uncle Melvin at the reuions. Bev was a dear friend and a talented teacher. She taught my three oldest children piano at a very early hour before school started. One of my children rode his bike through a few puddles on his way to Bev's house for a piano lesson. When he arrived he was soaking wet so Bev put him in a towel on the piano bench and put his very wet clothes in the dryer. When he was finished with his lesson, his clothes were dry. He hopped on his little bike and continued on his way. My five year-old called up Bev and made arrangements for his own piano lessons..that's how much she was loved! She will be missed!

Bev was my first cousin, her father and my mother were brother and sister. All though I lost tract of her the last 25 years I have talked to her several times in just the last year. She was a wonderful kind person that would always take the time to talk to me on the phone. She was the nurse on duty when I was born at the old Murray-Cottonwood hospital. I wish I could have visited with her before she passed away. She is now with Mel in a much better place where she will continue performing services and helping out whenever and however she can.

I became acquainted with Bev and Mel when they lived in Interlaken in Midway, Utah. What a great addition to our ward. What a beautiful woman both inside and out. I remember when we had Mel's funeral in Midway and there were so many people who came to pay their respects. What a tribute to them both as so many of their missionaries they'd served with came. I would like to express my sincere sympathy in the loss of an elect lady. May you as a family be blessed with peace, comfort, good memories, sunshine and laughter, and most of all love as the days and weeks go by.
