Darla, I found you late but admire and am influenced by your work, words you wrote that live on still to influence for good. Thank you for your contributions to wisdom which are so needed in a troubled time. I will always treasure your thoughts which help me. A reference was made to you in an October 2017 Conference address by Elder Holland. I wanted to know more so looked you up.

Darla's book helped change my life after the death of our son. Thankfully, I was able to meet and visit with her before her passing. What a lovely and compassionate lady. So grateful for her influence in my life.

I was so surprised to read on Meridian Magazine's intro to the article "God's Purposes Can Not Be Thwarted" that Darla had passed away. Her writing about her son's suicide was comforting to me when dealing with my son's suicide. I read her words over many times and was uplifted by her honesty and faith. Her writings have always dealt with 'real' life and how to address it as a faithful Latter-Day Saint. I want to express my gratitude for her writing, insight, and faith-filled focus. My condolences to you, her family.

Although Darla and I met only once over lunch, she was a close and dear friend. As she was the editor of Senior Review for many years and I was one of the writers, we exchanged emails a lot--both about my articles and the magazine and also about our ideas, experiences and lives. Darla was so very helpful and thoughtful to me when our son died.
