Dear Stoddard Family:
I was reared in Oakland but did not see Dave there until after both of us had finished at the "Y" where my wife and I majored in Speech/Drama/Teaching and worked with him on a number of plays at the "Y". I then saw him again at the Oakland Interstake Center, and we lost touch with each other. A few years later I saw an add in the paper for a house rental in Orem and I called up. Dave answered the phone and after I got my first sentence out, he said "Hi Kile, What are you doing in Orem?" I followed what he did for some years after that and then lost track of him. Chris [my wife] and I were talking just yesterday wondering what had happened to him. It was with great sorrow to us to find that he has has been taken by the Lord without us having any more opportunities to see him again. He, as many have said was the consumate professional and a light through his actions. I am sorry to write this so late. I live with your sorrow for him.

I learned of Dave's death in the strangest way -- watching the closing credits for 127 Hours. I worked with him on the stage musical Utah! in 1995 and he was an island of kindness and sanity in a very hectic environment. My condolences to all of his loved ones.

My dad and I were home teachers for the Stoddard family back in Oakland, many years ago. Dave was a fun guy to know and hang around with. His father and mother were salt of the earth saints. I still remember him learning staging at the Oakland Interstake Center. He was a great guy. We were born the same year. He got called back too soon. Haven't home taught him for many years. My Dad is there and will be glad to pick up the new assignment. Deepest heart felt feelings to the family.

Dave went out of his way to be a friend of mine. After spending time with him, he had the ability to make you feel better about yourself. What a sad, sudden loss this is. I'll truly miss you Dave. We've lost a wonderful man.

Dave was one of those professionals you could count on completely, whether lighting a small intimate scene or the huge Osmond stage. He knew and loved his work. I'm sure Heaven will be an even brighter place with Dave on the job.

Although we only met Dave once, at his son, Mark's wedding reception, we were very impressed with him and his family. Our son-in-law, John Snow, gave me the sad news. Our condolences got out to the family.

I remember Dave and his subtle humor..he wrote the "chicken farmer" for me on the last episode of TBAA that I appeared in...his quick wit shined thru with " tonight, we are gonna talk about picking up chicks!"
The funniest lines I have ever been given and he was sooo excited he had written them...I gave him a well earned hug...I shall miss him more than I would have thought. To the family you were blessed to have shared with him, and to have shared him with us...fear not, he will not be forgotten

I first worked with Dave at the Osmond Studio in 1980. We worked on many films and commercials. My fondest memory is his wonderful work on our film The Best Two Years. When I was hiring a crew for that film Dave was, as always, my first choice. He is a great guy. So talented. And I never heard a word come out of his mouth that would compromise his standards in any way. Always quiet. Extremely competent. Great to be around. I'll miss him.
My condolences to the family. Take heart. He's waiting for you. Just around the corner. All is well.

Over the years working with Dave he was one of the few on set who always seemed to have a smile on his face. He always conveyed the feeling he was happy to be there and I envied him for that. My thoughts are with his family.

Dear Stoddard family, I too was saddened to learn of Dave's sudden passing. Dave was always kind to me on set, one of few who made me feel welcome even as I'd just started out. His attitude and priorities were a quiet example, even as he did his job with professionalism and speed. He will be missed.

Dave taught me something new each time I worked with him. When I thought I knew the ropes, he would show me a whole other set of ropes and then take the time to teach me. It was enjoyable to be on set with Dave and he got the jobs done without getting mad. That's a true professional. My condolences to the Stoddard family. Dave will be missed.

Such a fine gentlemen. I cannot think of the set of "Touched by An Angel" without thinking of Dave and the warm light of confidence, professionalism, and humility that Dave always carried with him. And yet, as hard as he worked and as much as he gave to his profession, he always kept his priorities straight, and Dave's commitment to his faith and his family were inspirations to us all. Jon and I are deeply saddened by this loss, but we hold fast to the love of God and His promises. We send our love to Dave's family and pray that happy memories of this wonderful man will comfort you now and in the years to come.

Dave touched many lives in, and out of the film industry. We are all grateful for time shared. I don't know who is going to continue to teach me how to properly roll up cable every three years. The boys will have to carry on the legacy. Thanks Dave...we were all touched by an angel.

I love you all so much that it is frustrating attempting to express it. I can still see Uncle Dave at the sink quietly doing the dishes after Sunday dinner - "Rinsing" each dish so clean that if you didn't know better you would think the dirty dishes in the dishwasher had already been through the "sanitize" cycle. I'm so grateful for the memory I have spending New Years Eve at my kitchen table playing games with Dave and Edith this year. He will be sorely missed by both Rob and I and our hearts go out with all our love to Edith, our cousins, and all those beautiful grandbabies.
