Ed Gerrard Obituary

Charles "Ed" Gerrard

1948 - 2024

- Charles "Ed" Gerrard stepped into the presence of the Lord and all His Glory on the morning of February 4th, 2024; while peacefully sleeping, he crossed over into eternity.

Ed Gerrard was born in Salmon, Idaho on January 16th, 1948, to Pearl Mae Meservy and Eldred L.C. Gerrard. He was one of four siblings who moved from Idaho to California so his single mother could find work after his parents' divorce.

Ed attended college at the University of Texas and earned a BS in Chemistry. He started his 25-year career with Hercules Aerospace in Kansas, where he met the love of his life, Eva, on a blind date. They were married and soon moved to Utah with three girls. After retiring from Hercules as a Marketing Manager for composite material, he became a Compliance Officer for New York Life and was feared by all because of his attention to detail, integrity, and character.

Ed enjoyed all things outdoors and is an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved taking friends out on Strawberry for the day, long hunting trips with the guys, and hanging around a campfire telling stories until well after dark.

He is well known for his dry humor, kind, gentle demeanor, and someone who would always lend a hand. He had many friends and served faithfully at his home church, Canyons, and spent his time serving clients at the Concern Center.

Ed leaves behind his wife Eva of 41 years, daughters Kristy (married to Michael DeVries), Jennifer (married to Lake Smith), and Catherine Gerrard. He left Five grandchildren whom he adored: Mercedes, Ali, Coty, Olivia, and Chloe, and one great-granddaughter, Eva-Marie, who adored her Papa. His four siblings also survive him: Alex Gerrard, Wylie Gerrard (married to Cali), Diana Reyes, and Lindarae LaRocca (married to Bob).

He was preceded in death by parents Eldred Gerrard (married to Ena Gerrard), Pearl Mae Meservy (married to Kris Kristof), and sister Mary Gerrard.

Viewing will be held on Sunday, February 11th from 4:00 to 6:00 at Jenkins-Soffe, 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy, South Jordan, Utah. Funeral services to be held on Monday, February 12th, 11:00 at Canyons Church, 1700 Fort Union Blvd. in Cottonwood Heights. Online condolences may be shared at www.jenkins-soffe.com.

In lieu of flowers, the Family would appreciate a donation to the Concern Center. https://slba.org/concern-center

Ed was such a nice person! Very honest and upright. He will be missed. I always loved his smile and nice personality. He was a wonderful agency standards officer at NYL. My condolences to you and your family.
