Floyd Trujillo
1941 - 2025
- Floyd H Trujillo of Murray, Utah was born in Embudo New Mexico to Annie and Armando Trujillo on November 13, 1941, and passed away on March 1, 2025 unexpectedly and peacefully at the age of 83 and spent many wonderful years with his 3 sisters Teresa Trujillo, Eleanor Johnson and Maryann Adkins growing up in Bingham Canyon, Utah. Floyd spent 59 years with the love of his life Joyce. After their first meeting, he made sure to get information from Mom's Aunt and Uncle to be sure he could see her again. As they say, the rest is history. They spent years together doing the everyday things that make a love story so special, it's the ordinary moments that make a lifetime of love and happiness. Simple things like gardening, cooking, shopping, watching the Bold and the Beautiful and making mom her cup of coffee and bringing it to her each and every day.
Floyd and Joyce enjoyed many visits to Wyoming and Montana to fish and enjoy the beautiful terrain. Our parents took many weekend trips to Duchesne where he and our uncle Bob spent more time fixing our fishing lines than fishing themselves. He loved visiting Red Cliff and Leadville Colorado to visit his family. Dad would take mom places that also involved a little gambling whether to Wendover or take road trips to Idaho to buy lottery tickets and of course they would go as often as they could to visit Bob and Pauline in Las Vegas.
Dad spent 40 years with Kennecott Copper Mines, a.k.a. Rio Tinto and was an electrical shovel operator. He was fortunate enough to spend several years working with his son (Chris) putting shovel loads into the dump truck his son was driving. Very proud moments for both father and son. Post retirement he worked for Salt Lake County Aging Services working for the same department as his other son (Carl) driving people to and from their medical appointments throughout the valley every day at work was like a reunion for dad. He drove so many people he knew from Bingham Canyon, someone who went to the same high school, or just friends from Kennecott or just people he remembered from his youth. Dad had the ability to speak to anyone about anything a quality we all admire in our dad. It was divine timing when Cathy found herself with 40 extra hours a week, dad took full advantage of her newly found freedom. She received her marching orders via their daily morning phone calls. Dad had the supernatural ability to know when she stepped foot into Costco. Her phone would ring, and he would say the next time you're at Costco I could use or we are out of ……. Very grateful for the past two years helping our parents and spending time together.
Dad was better known in family circles as Mr. Make It Worse. He was NOT a DIY kind of guy, luckily, he had help from his sons and son-in-law when his projects went awry.
Dad was wonderful in the kitchen. A family favorite was his Green Chilie and Pinto Beans. Not to mention the special occasion enchiladas. He would always reward you with this meal. No one could make fried potatoes better than dad. Our family will miss him when we celebrate meals together.
Dad's greatest joys included coaching his son's baseball games from little league games through high school. He loved to pick up the grandkids from school which usually included a trip to McDonalds or stopping by Mavrick on the way home. Dad had a very special relationship with his dogs Buddy and Ollie who now will be keeping him company. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Joyce (Vaccaro)Trujillo and his Children Cathy (Robert) Lamph Chris (Wendy) Trujillo and Carl (Stacey) Trujillo 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren which he said were all such beautiful children and brought him such pride and joy.
Dad loved his family. His parting words to us when we finally had to go home were, Going so soon? I wish you didn't have to go. I miss you already, when are you coming back?
