Gerald Jordan Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" Stoddard Jordan

1936 ~ 2025

Bountiful, UT - On October 29, 1936 in Wewoka, Oklahoma, Audrey Pope Jordan and James Owen Jordan welcomed a new baby boy. Gerald Stoddard Jordan joined the family as their third child. Jerry spent his first 6 years living in Wewoka, Bowlegs and Caneyville, Oklahoma. The Jordan family relocated, running a sizeable chicken farm in Draper, Utah.

Following graduation from Davis High School, Jerry joined the United States Air Force. He served for 4 years, mostly in and around Orlando, Florida. Following his service in the USAF, he received a call to serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to South Africa. Jerry took great pleasure in serving God. He loved the people he served, a quality that Jerry embodied throughout his life.

Upon returning to Utah, his family had moved to Bountiful. One Sunday at church, the girl of his dreams fell into his arms! Jerry married Margaret Ellen Wing on June 14, 1963, in the Salt Lake Temple. Jerry earned his bachelor's degree from BYU.

The USAF employed Jerry as a civil servant industrial engineer. He demonstrated superb leadership skills and spent many of his years heading up the Manpower Department at Hill Air Force Base.

Jerry and Margaret raised 4 children in Bountiful, Utah: Donna (Todd), Jay (Nancy), Alan (Matilda), and Julie (David). For 2 years, 1974-1976, Jerry and Margaret moved their family to Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. They enjoyed experiencing the Filipino culture and seeing the lush, tropical jungles and beaches.

The Jordans spent 62 years together as a married couple. Jerry still gushed about his adoration for Margaret. The last several days of Jerry's life were spent visiting with family and close friends, expressing his love and appreciation for everyone. He peacefully passed away May 27, 2025. Jerry is survived by his sweetheart, Margaret, his 4 children and spouses, 15 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Happy Linger

Sorry to hear about Jerry's passing. I have been trying to call Jerry's for the last couple of weeks and had no luck. Me and my wife karolyn were getting worried about his condition so for some reason I googled Jerry's name and up poped his obituary. I'm so sorry I wasn't at the viewing or funeral because I liked Jerry so very much. I met first met Jerry when I was hired in the Manpower Office at Hill AFB. I soon became my supervisor and taught me everything I knew about the job. He was so patient and underslptanding. He was by far the best boss and friend at work. I will truly miss Jerry. If possible I would like to talk to Margaret or Alan to personally say how sorry I wasn't at the viewing, funeral. Please call at 801 814 7080. Thanks
