Howard Munk Obituary

Howard Leo Munk Gone Fishin' Howard Leo Munk, 87, beloved husband of Jeanne Giruad Munk passed peacefully away at home March 28, 2006. Howard was born in Manti, August 31, 1918 to Leo Domgaard Munk and Emerett Theressa Anderson. He married his sweetheart and lifetime companion, Jeanne, June 26, 1940. Together they raised eight children. Howard was a gentle giant of a man who lived his life with integrity and a generous heart. He was the first to step forward to help, show forgiveness, and offer kindness and acceptance to others without judgment. He worked hard all his life and raised his children to cherish his deep-rooted values. Howard loved to fish any time, anywhere. Legend has it that he could coax ten pounders out of a mud puddle. Every summer Howard tended a bountiful garden full of tomatoes and vegetables which he shared with everyone who came through his door. He will be sorely missed by all of his friends and family who love him so much. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Fred, his sister Madge Roberts and one grandchild. Howard is survived by his wife, Jeanne Munk, and children: Leon (Carol) Munk, Emerette (Jon) Atzet, Richard (Brenda) Munk, Peter (Pauline) Munk, Margaret (Randy) Van Ness, David (DiAnne) Munk, Michael (Lori) Munk, and Robert Munk, 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. A viewing will be held Sunday, April 2, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, SLC. Funeral services will be Monday, April 3, 2006, 12:00 noon, at the Rose Park 7th Ward, 1155 N. 1200 W., SLC, where friends may call from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment: Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 S. Redwood Rd. Our family wishes to thank the many tender caregivers who supported our family: Dr. Christopher Gay, Susan, Meg, Paula, Wayne, Tianna, Claudia, and Flora. I have many fond memories with the Munk family while I was growing up. Another one of my "second" families and want to send my prayers to you all. When my parents left me at such a young age, all of you helped me so much and I thank each and every one of you for that understanding. I hope you are all doing OK. much love, Sandi (Frowein) Colosimo
