Lary Kirk Obituary

Lary JamesKirk 1937 ~ 2003  Lary James Kirk, devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, pass-ed away peacefully with his family by his side Saturday, June 28, 2003, after a courageous battle with cancer. Lary was born the second of five children Sept 29, 1937, Orem, UT to Verl Henry Kirk and Ora Utah Keetch. He learned the value of hard work at an early age while growing up on his family's farm. Lary graduated from Pleasant Grove High School, 1955 after which he joined the National Guard. He married Sandra Monk, the love of his life, March 13, 1964 in the Manti LDS Temple. Lary's greatest happiness and satisfaction came through his family. He was a sports enthusiast and loved working in his yard. During the majority of his life Lary was employed by Utah Power and Light and later worked for Modus Media. Lary was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved the gospel and found great joy in doing the Lord's work while serving as bishop, counselor in the stake presidency, MTC branch president, and most recently, stake patriarch. Lary's quiet service and acts of love touched the lives of many. Lary is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, Colleen Kennedy, Stephen (Nancy), Angie Kirk, Kimberly Brown (Scott), Karie Kirk; grandchildren, Cassidy, Jade Kennedy, Taylor, Jaxon Kirk, Connor, Jake, Kirk Brown; brother, Kayle Kirk; and sisters, Peggy Jorgenson (Gerald), Judy Atkinson (Duane), JoLyn Kirk. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister-in-law, Mary Jo Kirk. Services will be Wed. July 2, 2003 11 a.m. Aspen LDS Stake Center, 965 W. 2000 N, Orem. Viewing will be Tues. July 1, 2003 Walker Sanderson Mortuary, 646 E. 800 N, Orem, 6-8 p.m. and at the church Wed. 9:30-10:30 a.m. Burial, Orem City Cemetery.
