Marilyn Niederhauser Obituary

Marilyn Meranda Niederhauser

10/23/1930 - 10/31/2022

-

Marilyn Meranda Niederhauser passed away peacefully on October 31, 2022 not long after her 92nd birthday.

Marilyn was born in Roosevelt, Utah on October 23, 1930 to Charles Meranda and Ruth Barker Meranda, the third of five children. She graduated from American Fork High School in 1948. She spoke fondly of the Class of '48 and always stayed in contact over the years.

Marilyn married Robert "Bob" Niederhauser and together they had 4 children, Brenda, Robert, Terry and Jeff. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent 62 years together.

Marilyn enjoyed working in the Young Women's program and the Relief Society of the Cottonwood Eighth Ward for many years. She had a passion for the Utah Jazz and attended many games over the years with her best friend Faye. Marilyn loved to get to know people and kept in touch with neighbors and friends always. She had a special love for young people and often spoke fondly about her grandchildren and other young people she knew by name. She made an effort to get to know the young people who worked at The Coventry, her assisted living home where she spent her final years.

Marilyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She always enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and was concerned with each one. She has spoken often about missing Bob the past 10 years and was looking forward to reuniting with him. She will be missed by so many.

Marilyn is survived by two children, Brenda (Bill) and Jeff (Jan), her brother, Tom Meranda, and 11 grandchildren and also great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob, her sons Robert and Terry, her grandson Justin, her sister Sally, brothers Jon and Stephen, and many much-loved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and aunts and uncles.

Thank you to all the people at The Coventry and the health care workers who gave Marilyn amazing care these past few years.

Marilyn will be laid to rest next to Bob at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery in a private burial.

Aunt Marilyn was my Grandfather Steve sister. I always remember her at family gathering and other events, when I moved back from California and I went to visit her she always insisted that I have lunch or dinner with her so she could introduce me to her many friends. wish i would have been able to see her in the last few years. but she is going to be missed.

My dear Aunt Marilyn. She has always been in my life. She was my Mom's sister and from the time I was born our families lived close by each other. I loved going to her house and as a young girl idolized my older cousin Brenda. Aunt Marilyn was always there. She made sure we always attended the family gatherings at Grandma Meranda's and made sure they were always lively, spirited and fun. She was the one who brought food to the sick and sad, always checked in on me and would say " I've been visiting you in my mind today" when she left a message. She was always there, so now that she is reunited with her Parents, Siblings, Uncle Bob and her dear Son's & Grandchildren I can only hope to feel her near me because she has always been here. Rest In Peace and give everyone a hug for me, especially my mom. Love you.

Marilyn and I were besties when nobody called them besties. I met her as an acquaintance 58 years ago and did not know her well until we were both called to serve with Nadine Beckstead in a Relief Society presidency along with Janell Broadhead. We were both quite surprised to be called and a bit apprehensive about our skills. None of us knew each other but we were all very hard workers and loved the gospel. We learned to love one another and our friendships lasted until one by one we died but Marilyn and I became the closest to each other because we laughed about the same things and now and then we cried together. We walked miles and miles often uphill and down. We were visiting teaching partners together for about 40 years and made lasting friends of all we visited. We were both roped into going to basketball games at the U and the Utah Stars by our husbands who lost interest but we were hocked and transferred our alligence to the Jazz and left the two Bobs home while we went to games, eating little pizzas and screaming at the refs. We had fun and joked and laughed but there were hard times and sad times and we talked and cried and consoled one another. There are not a lot of true kindred spirits that we meet in our lives and Marilyn was one of mine and I will miss her and still laugh and cry when I remember her. Faye Maxfield

We love Marilyn and Bob as wonderful neighbors for over 36 years. Bob loved his garden and shared his vegetables and flowers with us and many others. Marilyn always stayed cheerful and positive and treated us as family these many years. We miss both of them and know they are truly eternal friends. Much love, Russ and Barbara Hunter and family

Marilyn and Bob were family to me. I loved them and Brenda and the boys. So grateful to have traveled the road with them growing up. She was such a great long time friend to my mom Frankie Carlisle Crawford. I´m thrilled that she is now reunited with her family members. Sending love and my thanks to the family. She was a joyful light in my life. Geal Carlisle Mangelson
