MARK RASBAND Obituary

Mark Rasband "Will be Missed" HEBER CITY, UT- Our dear beloved father, grandfather, great-grand-father, and brother-in-law was surrounded by his family as he departed from his earthy life and joined his loving wife Merle on March 29, 2011. Mark married Merle Jane Dayton on April 25, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with three beautiful children, Dean, Glenn, and Jane. He was a devoted father and always provided for all the needs of his children and put them and his wife as his first priority. He was supportive in all of their activities and loved them with all his heart. Mark served in the U.S. Army for over three years during World War II as the company clerk. He loved his country and was very proud to serve in the military. Mark had many church callings. He served an LDS mission to the North Western States. He served 11 years as Stake Financial clerk, was the Executive secretary for the Heber Sixth Ward. He also served as YMMIA president, Sunday School President, and taught many church classes, as well as being a dedicated home teacher. He loved the gospel and was a diligent servant. Mark volunteered many hours to his community. He and his wife Merle served for over ten years as the chair and co-chairman of the Wasatch County Fair Talent Show. They also chaired and co-chaired the Miss Wasatch contest for two years. Mark was the "production manager and chauffer" for Merle as they went all around the Wasatch Front entertaining the people of the communities with a variety of musical numbers and entertainment. Mark attended U.S.U. for two years and then transferred to BYU where he received his BS degree in Elementary Education and his Masters Degree in Elementary School Administration. Mark was principal- educator for 37 years in the Wasatch County School District. He was principal at Midway Elementary, North School and Central School where his students and teachers loved and admired him. He is survived by his children: Dean (Holly) Rasband, Glenn (Harriet) Rasband, Jane Rasband Landon, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, brother and sister in-law, Earl and Donna Dayton. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011, 12:30 p.m. in the Heber LDS 1st/6th ward building, 325 East 500 North, Heber City. Viewings will be on Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, 288 North Main Street, Heber City, and on Saturday from 11:00-12:00 p.m. prior to the services at the LDS Church.
