Rico Velarde Obituary
Rico Marko Velarde was born March 8, 1978 in SLC, Utah to Mary Velarde and Gabriel Valeriano. He was the oldest of three. He lived for his family, especially his mother! He had several friends he loved as his own brothers - they know who they are; his friendships meant so much to him.
Rico was a dedicated worker who prided himself in his hard work, anything Rico put his mind to he would do. He spent many hours studying to complete the UT EAP program in 2012 to then become a Journeyman Electrician in the IBEW 354.
Rico was a wonderful son, father and uncle. He had a big heart, always worried about others. Rico loved to make people laugh; his laugh alone would make you laugh.
Survived by his mother Mary Ray and stepfather John Ray, daughter Tyler Dodge (who he adored), sisters Danielle (Shane) Velarde and Shannon (Jesse) Ray, grandma "grams" and many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Preceded in death by his grandpa Alfred Velarde and close friends Shawn Barton, Mike Madrid, and Pam Carter.
Special thanks to his uncle Joey and aunt Sandra for all her help in laying Rico to rest. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wells Fargo, Rico Velarde account #2904241722.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3451 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 14,, 2015 at 11am at St. Thomas the Worker Catholic Church, 7405 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.

My brother was an amazing man with the biggest heart, he always looked out for those he loved and cared for... I am at a loss for words as my heart will never be the same without him... he was always there for me to crack jokes or help me when I was down. Rico was one of a kind, I was truly blessed to have such a wonderful brother for this long... I will miss him every day, minute, second that goes by! I know he is resting peacefully so I will go on with a smile and show him that I live on for him and protect my mother and sister for him. I love you Rico!!! Fly with the angels, until we meet again brother! Love always and forever your baby sister.

RIP RICO...You will missed very much by your loved ones. I only knew you for a very short time but in that time I found you to be a kindhearted young man. You left this earth far too early. Let your death be a reminder to everyone to LIVE, LOVE AND LAUGH LIKE IT IS YOUR LAST DAY....BECAUSE IT MAY BE!
