Sherry Wood Obituary

1947 ~ 2014
Our world lost a brilliant star as Sherry lost her 14 month battle with glioblastoma (brain cancer). This beautiful woman was a fierce advocate and wonderful role model for her children and grandchildren. She literally lit up a room with her smile, kindness, energy and love.

She was a world traveler, as both a flight attendant and a tourist. Her travels took her to many parts of the world.
She is a survived by daughters, Brenda Alley, Amie Stackhouse (Chris), Wendy Pierson (Malen) and her loving husband Spencer Wood. She is also survived by grandchildren, Tysin, Jordan, Kacey, Cydney, Maddie, Sky, Solee, George, Jonah, Aspen, Bry Ann, Isaac, Millie and Bodie and great-grandchildren Kaiden, Florence and Leo. Sherry was "Grandma Sherry" to many of us. What a wonderful, wonderful person - rich with love and spirit, optimism, encouragement, empathy, and eternal kindness.

She welcomed extended family with the same open arms and open house as though we had lived in Utah all along! I am sad at the loss, but thankful for the times we had together. I am so glad that all of my kids hold special memories of Grandma Sherry.

With sympathy and prayers from the Seattle area -

Sherry and Spence were our very best neighbors. We had fun going out for breakfast, lunch, and for dinner. When possible, we would end our time out by slipping over to the yogurt place for a little snack before heading home. You couldn't ask for better friends and neighbors.... Gary & Sharon

Spencer, Brenda, Aime, Wendy It's always hard to read a obituary of some that has passed. Adding this wonderful video in tribute to Sherry's life is something I think Sherry would appreciate? Sherry lived life to the fullest, her fight with a violent Cancer was amazing. There are just not enough words to express what a Wonder, Gorgeous Lady Sherry was. She always had a smile on her face no matter how she was feeling. She has been a inspiration in my life in so many ways. She will always have a spot in my heart and will sorely be missed. Spencer and family, may God be with you in the months a head. Sherry you are free of pain, Rest In Peace Beautiful Lady.

Brenda, Aime and Wendy. Words can't express the hollow feeling in my heart! The world has lost a beautiful lady in your mother. Even though I have'nt seen Aunt Sherry in quite a while, I sure enjoyed giving her a hard time and joking around on facebook. When I would post something about my own health battles, she was always there and one of the first to give me words of encouragement and offer support. A lady going through what she was going through, and she was the one still always supporting me and others. That's the amazing lady she was and I am going to miss her dearly. She was so strong right up until the end. She was going to spend Christmas with her girls and she did. I Love you all and just know your mother was an inspiration to everyone that was privledged enough to know her!

Knowing Sherry was a gift, one that gave those around her a smile and a good feeling. It has been many years since I have seen her as our careers with SWA took us to opposite sides of the country. However, her memory stays bright in my mind and her smile will emit a light in my heart forever. Thank you Sherry, for your friendship.
