Stephen Goddard Obituary

1987 ~ 2018
Stephen Anthony Goddard, a chef, gardener, boxer, rockhound, travel and outdoor enthusiast, died July 3, 2018, in Murray, Utah. He was 30.
Stephen was born July 19, 1987, in Salt Lake City, the son of Mark and Camille Goddard. He played football at Judge Memorial High School, graduating in 2006. He also attended the University of Utah and Art Institute of Culinary Arts.
A proud, fun-loving Catholic Italian, Stephen was obsessed to take all things to the nth degree - be it fast cars, shooting, snowmobiling, water/snow and jet skiing. He loved nature with all its wonders and reading all kinds of books that would take a discussion into the metaphysical, nutrition, or whacky stuff - like "the world really isn't round."
He had that same zeal for those he loved.
Stephen's moniker: "The nicest, polite boy who could always instill a sense of comfort to people in any situation." Engaging and caring toward everyone he met, with no regard to race, religion or background, Stephen loved unconditionally and defended with passion the downtrodden.
He fought bravely the disease of addiction.
Stephen leaves behind his parents, Mark (Orawan) Goddard, Sandy and Camille Goddard (John Marciano), San Diego, Calif.: brothers, Andrew and Mathew Goddard, Salt Lake City, Sandy; grandparents, Brent and Francine Cook, Murray.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Saturday July 14, 2018 at St. Vincent Catholic Church, 1375 East Spring Lane, Salt Lake City. A vigil service will be held 7:00 p.m. Friday July 13, 2018 at Neil O'Donnell & Sons Mortuary 372 East 100 South, Salt Lake City with family and friends viewing from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Committal: Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

I had the opportunity to meet Stephen when he came to work at the Utah Food Bank. Such a nice soft spoken guy. I wish I would have taken the time to get to know him better and I'm sadden by his passing.I'm sorry to his family for what has to be so heart breaking. His smile and kindness made all the difference.

Seriously love these boys

Our hearts are absolutely broken. Stephen was such a kind, sweet and incredibly loving young Man. We have know him since he was five years old and have so many many fun memories with him and the family. Some of the best hugs we have ever received in our lives came from Stephen. He was genuine, thoughtful and you knew you were loved by his actions. Our hearts are with the entire Goddard/Cook family.
Be at peace Stephen we love you so much, Aunt Judy and Uncle Mark

Stephen was loving and kind; the first to give hugs and ask "How are you?" He loved family gatherings and will remain embedded in our hearts as we carry on with those family traditions he loved.
