Timothy Babbel Obituary

Timothy Brent Babbel

Sandy, UT - Timothy Brent Babbel, age 51, died at home after a short, but hard battle with pancreatic cancer on June 21, 2023. He was born March 17, 1972, at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, the 2nd son of Charles Frank and Janeva (Strate) Babbel.

Tim was a loving and devoted father, brother, son, uncle, and friend to many.

After graduating from Alta High School in 1990, he started working in the construction industry and became a journeymen glazier. Deciding to venture into a different field, he graduated as a pharmacy tech in 2010. He worked at IMC, University of Utah, and Smith's Pharmacies where he made lifelong friends.

He married Clara Chantel Ikeda in 1998. They later divorced but remained steady friends as together they raised their three wonderful children, Montana Rain, Akeakemai, and Park Henry Haruto, whom he loved with all his heart. His children were his everything!

Tim loved the outdoors and took every opportunity to venture out and enjoy all that it has to offer. He enjoyed hiking, camping, mountain biking, fishing, skiing in the Uinta's, the red lands of Utah, and Waterton National Park in southern Alberta. His love for the outdoors started at an early age and continued through scouting and beyond. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow.

One of Tim's greatest accomplishments, and one of which he was justifiably proud of was how he turned his back on alcohol. He chose sobriety in 2010 and it is a mark of his strength and commitment that he was sober from that day on. When he received his cancer diagnosis, he said, "If I can beat alcohol, I can beat cancer." Unfortunately, cancer does not bend to strength of will. Tim fought valiantly but there were other plans in store for him. He had prepared himself for those plans by following Jesus Christ, living a kind life with a generous heart, forgiving readily, laughing freely, and forgiving easily.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents and his older brother, Andrew Charles Babbel. He is survived by his parents, his four siblings, Bradley (Emilie), Amy VanderVeur (Jared), McKendrick (Maile), Patrick (Amy) and many other family and friends.

Because of his love of nature, we have chosen to hold his celebration of life outdoors at Storm Mountain Amphitheater (2 miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon) on July 11, 2023 at 5:00PM.

Due to limited parking carpool when possible.

Tim was my adventure roadie. He loved being outside as much as me and brave enough to tag along on exploring excursions. He taught me so much from construction to weathering storms. Literally and metaphorically. I can´t remember last I had someone so kind in my life. I am so thankful to have met him. His presence sent ripples that effected everyone he met. Always had a song in his heart. He is so loved and ever will be missed.

Tim was such an amazing guy! He was truly a brilliant soul and his brightness will be missed every day. We had daily chats that included a plethora of memes and emojis that would have me laughing all day. He made work so much fun and I would always look forward to when we were scheduled on the same team. Sending all of my love to his family and friends.

I will never forget the kindness Tim showed me while we worked at the IMC Pharmacy together for a few years. I learned a lot from him. I am so sad and shocked to hear about his cancer diagnosis and passing. I'm grateful for the time we spent together, talking about Glacier NP and concerts. Sending love to Tim's family.
