Edwin Earl "Eddie" Randle, 87, of Belleville, Ill., born Dec., 21, 1926, in Belleville, Ill., passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014.

Eddie attended both grammar and high school in Belleville. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Merchant Marines as a fireman aboard the S.S. Edward Canby. Upon his return from the South Pacific, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia McCrary Randle, on Feb. 28, 1946. They settled in Belleville and had five children.

Eddie was a member of St. Henry, St. Mary, and St. Augustine parishes in Belleville, Plasterers Local 90, Swansea Moose Lodge No. 1221, and Belleville Elks Lodge No. 481.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia McCrary Randle; his parents, Harvey Sr. and Myrle Griffin Randle; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Eva Sar and Hugh McCrary; his brothers, Harvey Jr. and Robert Randle; his son-in-law, Douglas Shelton; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Woodrow McCrary, Jimmy Young, Daniel and Bernice Sieber, Joe and Elizabeth Zine, Geraldine Minor, and Elizabeth Young.

Surviving are his five children, Sharon Randle Shelton, Kent Randle, Robert Randle Sr., Katherine Randle Lynch, and Julie (Scott) Wilson; nine grandchildren, Lawrence (Amy) Muskopf, Kristen (Jared) Bacon, Robert Jr. (Lanie) Randle, Nathaniel (Nanette) Randle, Matthew (Ashley Batten) Randle, Andrew "Ders" Wilson, Shelby Lynch, Alexa Wilson, and Harrison Randle; nine great-grandchildren, Ella, Evelyn and Georgia Muskopf, Brennen and Maxwell Bacon, Lyla, Brooke, and Liam Randle, and Edwin Randle; his brother-in-law, Joe Young, and his children, Theresa, Joseph, Christopher (Maria), and Deborah; and his sister-in-law, Vera Randle, and her children, Lisa Randle and Brian Randle.

Eddie's passions in life were first and foremost his wife, Pat, and his children. A second passion was golf, which he enjoyed playing weekly. He loved to play cards and travel with his devoted friends. Thank you for your lifelong friendship. Eddie loved to barbecue and was very proud of Randle's Concord Inn. He also loved to dance and will forever be remembered as "Twinkle Toes".

Kent, Julie and family - I just found out that your father passed away several months ago. Please accept my sympathy and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

As a little girl, you never ever believe your father will ever die or leave you. He teaches you everything and guides you through all the rough spots. My father taught me how to golf, play sports, cook, and learn how to be lonely and survive when I was at college. We traded many a letter and phone call where he bestowed upon me his words of wisdom and I will never forget the countless hours we spent together in the last 12 years at peace with each other talking, watching golf, baseball, having a beer and laughing. I will miss him terribly and he will forever be my hero!! I love you more Daddy!! Give Momuu my undying love! Julie
