Dan McCool was an original. There will never be another. A wonderful character who made an event that much more lively. And a friend who would give you the shirt off his back... a wrestling shirt.

I worked with Dan when was basically starting his career at the Journal Express in Knoxville. He covered my children in their sports at KHS. I am so happy to read of his success over the years.

Diane, my sincerest condolences on the passing of Dan. He deservedly received many accolades for his professional work of covering sports, particularly wrestling. I fondly recall crossing paths with him throughout the year, whether it be the high school folkstyle season or the spring and summer freestyle season. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
