Jerold Stock Obituary
Waukee
Jerold "Jerry" Stock, 66, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Mercy West Lakes. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, June 17, 2017 at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday.
Jerry was born in Alton, IL the son of Joe "Wally" and Irene Stock. He was a graduate of Valley High School in West Des Moines where he was a 1st team all-state basketball player. Jerry earned his B.S. degree in business and finance from the University of Missouri and played basketball under Norm Stewart. Jerry was an entrepreneur and worked in the automotive industry for 25 years.
He is survived by two daughters, Joni Stock and Sally Meyer of Portland, OR; son, Toby of Washington D.C.; three grandsons; and two brothers, Joe of Waukee and Mick of West Des Moines. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.

Jerry was the best! Fabulous personality, warm and friendly to all. Who didn't just love him!!!! I'm shocked, and oh so sad. I was a new student to Valley (from Canada) in our junior year. He made me feel welcome and special, 1st day. He was the special one.

Like others who have passed away i looked forward to seeing you again. That makes a sad day for me. I'll never forget your ability in basketball. You always seemed to be searching for the next open man that could score. Another memory is from Economics, I think. Jerry Thompson and you sat next to each other dishing out comic relief. Mr Magill would occasionally tell a joke or so he thought. You'd go over-board laughing; Magill would have expression on his face as if to say," That was a good-one Magill, comedy's your bag!" Shameless, I hope that paid off for you with a better grade. I remember when I was leaving the '89 reunion at the Val Air. You stood up and gave me a big wave good bye. That's how you're frozen in my mind. Rest well my friend!
