L. Ringgenberg Obituary
Ames
L. Dean Ringgenberg, age 86, of Ames Iowa, passed away on Sunday March 6, 2016 at the Veteran's Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
A Celebration of Dean's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12th at the Slater United Methodist Church in Slater, Iowa with Pastor Emily Peasley officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday at the Slater church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service, which will begin at 11:00 a.m.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family interment will be held at the Sheldahl Cemetery following the luncheon.
"Dean" Ringgenberg was born on November 27, 1929 in Sheldahl, Iowa to Claude and Bertha (Butterfield) Ringgenberg. He was a 1947 graduate of Sheldahl Community High School. Dean served in the Navy from December 22, 1950 to September 28, 1954 and was a Korean War veteran.
Upon returning home from the Korean War, Dean married his longtime sweetheart LaVon Luther on October 16, 1954 in Omaha, Nebraska.
Dean worked for Fareway Stores Inc. for 46 years, retiring from Fareway in 1993 as the company's Meat Coordinator. Following his retirement, he was the owner of the Nevada Dairy Queen with his son, Dan.
Dean is lovingly cherished and deeply missed by his wife of 61 years, LaVon of Ames, Iowa; children-Ron (Joan) Ringgenberg of Johnston, Iowa; Judy (Karl) Keuter of Manchester, Iowa; and Dan Ringgenberg of Nevada, Iowa; six grandchildren-Kaci (Peter) Angelone of Alexandria, Virginia; Kipp Keuter of Wichita, Kansas; Kody Keuter of Fort Worth, Texas; Kory Keuter of Ames, Iowa; Andrew Nolte of Waverly, Iowa; Jessica Nolte of Waterloo, Iowa; two great-grandchildren, Dominic and Aela Angelone, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Carroll, and a sister, Elnora (Blue Eyes).
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at the Des Moines Veteran's Hospital for their kind and gentle care of Dean during his illness.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Ringgenberg family in loving memory of Dean.

LaVon and family. I was so sorry to hear of Dean's death. I have fond memories of all the Fareway families, especially yours and the Ganskes. You will remember me as Jean Howell. You have my sincere sympathy.
