RAYMOND NAVARRE Obituary

NAVARRE RAYMOND FRANCIS 81 of Westland, March 17, 2015. Ray is survived by his daughter, Susan (Tim Olevsky) Navarre; his sister, Carole Navarre; two step-sisters, Judy (John) Smarch and Jean Halat; his nieces, Jennifer (Kent) Whistler, Heatherleigh Navarre, and Vanessa Navarre; two grandnieces, Hannah and Linnea Whistler; many cousins, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Donnie, who died in a childhood accident; his father; his daughter, Laurie, who also died in a childhood accident; his mother; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. According to his wishes, there will be no funeral service. However, friends and family are invited to celebrate with stories and memories at a luncheon in Ray's honor at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at the Grand Harbor Banquet Center at 1 St. Johns St., Wyandotte. A private, family-only ceremony will be held later, when Ray's ashes will be interred with his daughter Laurie. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family requests that donations be made in Ray's name to either Southwest Solutions, 5716 Michigan Avenue, Detroit, MI 48210 (a local charity focused on helping low income populations in the Detroit area), or Focus Hope, 1355 Oakman Blvd., Detroit, MI 48238 (a Detroit-based organization dedicated to overcoming racism, poverty, and injustice). Arrangements by R.J. Nixon Funeral Home. www.nixonfuneralhome.com.
