Potts, was so special in my life. He was my "Mr Holland" in real life. He taught us excellence, discipline, pride, and respect for music. He was a great teacher and a good friend.

He was a wonderful teacher and was so thoughtful that when I had to move to South Carolina, he had a going-away party for me during orchestra period in 1973. I used to babysit his kids so I could have violin lessons with his wife since we couldn't afford them. Because of the Potts family, I am a violinist in the local symphony, chamber orchestra and string quartet. Teachers are amazing people and he was the perfect example. Thank for all you did.

I was heartbroken to hear of this loss. He was my choral director my first year in high school at PHS. And at the time of his passing, he was a tenant in a property that my company manages. He was such a wonderful man. Prayers for the Potts family.

Alan Potts was one of a kind. Smart, funny, serious (when he had to be), and obviously gifted. His charisma endeared him to his students at Southwest High School and the church. I´m honored to be a part of the choir and performing arts at SHS and receive his valuable lessons. I´m sure he is either singing with, directing a part of or accompanying a host of angels. Thank you, Alan for all you did and the many lives to touched and inspired. Rest in peace my friend.

I was in Mr Potts´ orchestra and choir for 4 years in the 70´s. We all thought he was a goofball (he was a grown up!) but man, did we have fun with him. The competitions he took us to. The huge amount of knowledge he shared. And the annual musicals! The annual musicals that he co-coordinated are the best memories I have from SHS. I´m pretty sure he´s already working on the angel choir in Heaven. Thanks for the memories, Mr Potts!

Mr. Potts influenced me to continue in music education and I was privileged to sing in his choral programs at Southwest High. I looked forward to chorus everyday and was proud to be a part of his group. He was a gifted director but what I cherish the most is the fun we had. He taught us to make beautiful music. Thank you Mr. Potts. The Angels will sing gloriously now.

Alan Potts was a treasure. His talent, humor, and expertise endeared him to hundreds of students whose lives he impacted. My memories of choir and performing arts are the best I have of high school. Words can not express my sadness at his passing. Keep the music going, Potts, we love you.

Mr. Potts was one of a kind. He made everything about being in a Capella and show choir at SHS so much fun. He had a wicked sense of humor and an enormous amount of talent! Thanks for the memories, sir.

Mr. Potts was the choir teacher at Southwest High School while I was there. I will always remember how much I loved being in choir.

Mr. Potts was my church choir director in the 60s. My family (Rhodes family) were members of St. John´s Episcopal Church for over 40 years. Later in the 90s we reconnected when Mr. Potts played at my second wedding. Mr. Potts will always have a special place in my heart. My deepest sympathy to the Potts family.
