Barry Burch Obituary

Barry B. Burch, 73, peacefully took the Lord's hand on Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, after a short battle with lung cancer. His bride of 31 years, Gay Earlene Watson Burch, who affectionately referred to him as "Mr. Burch," was at his side. They were married Oct. 21, 1978.
Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Chapel.
Memorials: The family requests that donations of your choice be made in the memory of "Mr. Burch" to the National Rifle Association (NRA), Grand Prairie Boys and Girls Club or Brighter Tomorrows in Grand Prairie.
Barry was born Sept. 29, 1936, in Dallas to Dudley Louis and Mary Helen Rant Burch.
"Mr. Burch" loved life and the outdoors. He had a passion for hunting and fishing. He enjoyed helping his wife with her businesses and community work and was known in one organization as a "soroptimister."
Barry had been retired for 18 years from TXU after 35 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dudley and Helen Burch.
Barry and Gay were blessed with a loving family, which includes: son, Michael Drayton Burch (Angie); daughters, Cariana Rae Burch Hooper (David), Tracy Jean Fulton (Michael) and Lesli Denise Base (Monty); grandsons, Michael Brian Burch and Zachary Paul Base; granddaughters, Jeri Layne Vanbroklin Fulton-Cox (Collin), Lauren Michael Fulton, Montana Renae Fulton and Kelsie Lee Base; great-granddaughter, Trinity Rose Cox; sisters, Autumn D'Lisa Burch Church and Sherry Antoinette Burch Smythe; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family; and many friends.

Barry and I were married for 20 years. He and Gay were married for 30. It became a good choice. He did well to maintain a good relationship with our two children, who will miss him. Go in peace.
