Mrs. McCutcheon was born April. 11, 1926, in Yazoo City, Miss. She was the daughter of Rita Effie Fincher and Harold Franklin Adams, of Mobile, Ala. The family returned to Mobile when Edy was two, where she and her sister, Joyce "Hon," were raised by their mother and loving grandparents, Leila "Sis" and William "Bill" Fincher.
Edy was working at the PX at Brookley Field Army Air Base in Mobile during World War II, when a handsome pilot and captain swept her off her feet.
One of her favorite pastimes was flying with Mac in a B-25 bomber around Alabama, while dressed in a flight suit and cap, as if she was a member of the crew. (They didn't get caught.)
Edy and Mac married three months later in July 1945. Except for nine months in 1948-49 when Mac was flying C-54's in the Berlin Airlift, Mac and Edy spent the next 21 years together in the United States Air Force at various B-47 and B-52 SAC bases in the United States and England. They were stationed at Carswell AFB from 1949 to 1952, where Mac flew the B-36 in the 11th Bomb Wing, Strategic Air Command.
Edy was active in the Officers' Wives Club, various civic and volunteer organizations and was a homeroom mom and Cub Scout den mother.
After USAF retirement in 1966, the couple moved to Fort Worth.
Edy was a member of Ridglea Presbyterian Church. Her favorite pastimes were spending time and corresponding with her family and friends and working in her flower gardens.
Edy was greatly loved by all who knew her; her son, daughter-in-law, grandson and step-grandson, granddaughter, three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Edy was preceded in death by her parents; and most beloved husband of 51 years, Col. Claude C. "Mac" McCutcheon Jr.
Survivors: Son, Claude "Sonny" C. McCutcheon III and his wife, Nancy Perry McCutcheon; grandson, Claude "Mac" C. McCutcheon IV; stepgrandson, David Rowe of Fort Worth; granddaughter, Cammye Gray and her husband, Tony; great-grandchildren, Melody, Weston and Wade of Fort Worth; sister, Joyce Dennis; niece, Edy Carrington and her husband, Pat; great-nieces, Madison and Lauren of Mandeville, La.; niece, Tana Brown and her husband, Steve; great-niece, Suzanne; and great-nephew, Justin of Dallas.

Sonny, Nancy and family:
Mike and I are sorry to hear of Mrs. McCutcheon's passing. Please remember that her physical infirmities and restraints have been removed and she's been reunited with her beloved.
The obituary painted the picture of a wonderful woman who was something of a daredevil. I understand where Sonny gets his love of flying.
Please accept our sympathy in your loss.
