Dear Mrs. Head and Family: As a 1961 graduate of GPHS, I had the priviledge to know "Coach" Head. He was always a gentleman. I know he will be missed but he has left such a great legacy.

Dear Virginia & Lisa,
I am so truly saddened to hear of the loss of such a wonderful man as your husband and father. No one ever accused me of being able to play tennis, but I was (and am) a good driver, and I owe it all to Mr. Gene Head as my Drivers' Ed teacher. And though I've always felt numbers were a "necessary evil", his bookeeping class was one of my best! He'll always have a special place in my heart and I'll remember him with great fondness. Deepest condolences to you both! Lynda Doty, Class of '69

Mr. Head was a very good man. I not only had the priviligege of taking tennis lessons from him, but also worked the snack stands for him for the football games. Waaay back in the late 60's. I was at GPHS when Mr. & Mrs. Head were married and everyone thought it was so cool. You two made a beautiful couple and I am happy you had so many wonderful years together. Mr. Head was a stellar example for the teenagers. My deepest sympathies for you, Mrs. Head, and your daughter. Prayers are with you that God wraps His loving arms around you both and you feel His presence and strength to help you through.

"Tiger"
Coach Head was a very special person to me and my family. I will always remember his smile and the twinkle in his eyes when he would see me or one of my family. He was more than an educator. He was a very special friend and example for me.
Of all the wonderful memories I have of Coach Head, one really comes to mind often. Coach Head was the Driver's Ed instructor for Billy Kidd and I. We would always leave very, very early in the morning. If Billy or I were driving Coach Head would always roll down his window, lay his head on the window sill and fall asleep. I blame this on you. He was courting you at the time and I know you kept him out too late. Also, we would always have to stop by the Sabine Valley Ice Cream Shop in Greenville on the way back. He really loved his ice cream.
I know I cannot say anything to relieve the pain of loss. The only thing I can say is that he really loved you and Lisa and he left both of you with some wonderful memories that will always give you comfort and a smile. He is helping the Lord with His tennis stroke right now.
I loved him and I love you.
Loyd

Mrs. Head,
God bless you during this time of grief and loss.
Coach Head was a very special man. He was an encouraging, positive voice to all the GPHS students. He was a true model for us all to strive to be more like. We are all better for having been able to know or associate with him, as students, co-workers, friends and neighbors.

Mrs. Head and family,
I am saddened as a heard the news of your loss. Coach Head was a super educator and gave many years to the children of Grand Prairie. I was just one of many that can balance a check book because of him. You were my Algebra teacher the year you got married. We were all so excited. Please know that you all are in the class of 1968's thoughts and prayers.

I was saddened at the news of Coach Head's death. Our class of 1968 were just remenicing old times. In Driver's Ed I was the only girl in my car and the only one that knew very little about driving. The first time I had to drive he made me drive in downtown Dallas during 4:00 traffic. After that day, I knew there wasn't a place at any time I couldn't drive.

Mrs. Head and family,
I am only one of many past Grand Prairie graduates (class of 1961) that loved Mr. Head and learned more than just curriculum and tennis. He was a shining example of how to live your life to the fullest while serving others.

Mrs. Head,
I am deepely saddened to hear of Mr. Head's passing. I was one of his students in 1966. He was an inspiration to me. When I married my senior year he commented, "Carol, I don't know what will become of you now." I was determined to go on to college and make something of myself. While in graduate school I often thought about his comment when I was discouraged and tired of school. It helped me stay focused and persevere. The world is a little dimmer without his guiding light.
