Eula Huckabay Obituary

Gladys Huckabay, 95, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2009.
Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park.
Memorials: Donations may be made to Pleasant Hills Children Home, P.O. Box 1177, Fairfield, Texas 75840.
Gladys was born July 30, 1913, in Faxon, Okla. She attended Capital Hill High School in Oklahoma City, Okla., and beauty college. As one of nine children, Gladys had six brothers and two sisters. She loved life, the ocean, the bluebonnets. She was a competitive 42 player, a people person, loved her baseball and football and never met a shrimp she didn't like. Gladys loved to go and could be ready in an instant; she was happy with a drive-in meal or a 5-star. She was easygoing and laughed a lot. Her joyous spirit will be missed by all. Her departure leaves a huge hole on earth, but a bright spot in heaven.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Wesley N. Huckabay.
Survivors: Daughter, Beverley Whelan and husband, Bob; son, Wesley B. Huckabay; grandsons, Wes Hamil and wife, Victoria, of Colorado, Jeff Hamil and wife, Barbra, of San Antonio, Todd Whelan and wife, Danielle, of Mableton, Ga., and Kevin Whelan and wife, Kirstin, of California; granddaughter, Edwina Casid and husband, Michael, of Plano; great-grandchildren, Johnny and Nicole, Sean and Caeli and Ella; brothers, Oren Lee Martin, Jack Martin and Duffy Martin, all of Oklahoma; and a large gathering of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
