Rodney Dean Huckabay - "Rod"
Rod was born in Abilene, Texas, son of Dean and Joyce Huckabay. He lived in Abilene until after high school. Rod worked for his father on and off for years at Barrett's Automotive, both in Abilene and Lubbock. Rod also learned many other occupations and hobbies including being an electrical apprentice, photographer (even developing his own film!), ham radio operator, welder, racehorse owner, Harley rider, built and repaired computers, and remodeled houses. Rod enjoyed old memorabilia, guns, politics, and Bible Study. He treasured and spoke often of his childhood memories with cousins at his maternal grandparent's farm in Afton, Texas. He spent many hours listening to Christian tapes, sermons, and broadcasts while taking countless notes and studying scripture.
Rod is survived by his wife of 33 years, Janice Huckabay of Lubbock, two sons, Chad Huckabay of Lubbock and Wyatt Huckabay of Ardmore, OK. Also, a sister, Sheree Rankin of Lubbock. As well as extended family, cousins and friends.
