Joe Rice Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Agape Funeral Chapel & Crematory - Lubbock on Mar. 12, 2026.
Joe Dale Rice, 55, of Levelland, passed away February 28, 2026 at home surrounded by loved

ones.

Joe was born on December 11, 1970, in Groom, Texas, to Dennis Dale Rice and Jo Ellen (Brock)

Rice. He attended school in Levelland, Texas, and married Debora (Boucher) Rice, his high

school sweetheart, in Levelland on July 10, 1992. Joe and Debora raised their children together

in Sundown and then Levelland. Joe worked as an oilfield meter technician for over 30 years in

Sundown, Texas, and for the last 5 years, Joe worked as a maintenance technician at Pipeline

Plastics in Levelland. Joe was Baptized by his good friend Dewey Gragson.

Joe was a fan of great stereo systems, rock music, rock concerts, motorcross races, RC cars, and

all things Star Wars and Batman. In his early years, he was featured in Super Chevy Magazine

for his accomplishments in street class racing, where he raced his cherished Chevrolet Nova. He

also played bass guitar in a band with some friends. Throughout his life, Joe was a family man,

through and through, and was known for his reliability and dependability. Joe was a loyal friend,

and he had a quick wit which many enjoyed. Joe could fix just about anything. Joe enjoyed

golfing, assembling models, listening to his favorite music, and spending time with family and

friends as often as possible.

Joe is survived by his wife, Debora Rice; their two children Cami Rice and Chay Rice; one

brother Michael Rice; Joe's father Dennis and wife Betty; nieces and nephews: Paul Varner Rice

and wife Victoria, Caitlyn Rice, Keali Conn, and Kaiden Conn; and many loved ones. Joe was

preceded in death by his beloved mother, Jo Ellen Rice. Joe's memory will be cherished by all

those that love and miss him.
