Duane Hindes

Duane Christy Hindes passed away on January 10, 2026, in Lubbock, TX at the age of 66. His

loss was unexpected to most who knew and loved him.

Duane was born with a naturally sweet and kind soul. He was fun loving, goofy, and always a

joy to be around. Duane loved dogs, cars, children, nature, and life in general.

Duane graduated from Coronado High School in Lubbock in 1980. He attended various

technical schools after graduating from high school and became somewhat of a jack-of-all-

trades. He was a talented car mechanic and machinist, and he worked for several years as a

machinist for the Chemistry Department at Texas Tech University. His love for nature led him to

become a landscaper and tree trimmer in his later years.

Duane was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Hindes; his brother, Danny Hindes; his sister,

Kelly Beatty; his nephew, William Carroll Beatty III; his mother, Donna Hindes; and his father,

Ernest Hindes.

Duane will be remembered by his niece and nephews: Christopher Beatty, Zachary Hindes,

Nicholas Hindes, Logan Hindes, and Jenna Hindes. He will also be deeply missed by his

stepchildren Robin Wanke and Jeremy Garcia and by his grandchildren and their spouses:

Sarah McCaffrey (Ian McCaffrey) and Eric Kirkland (Emma Kirkland).

The family would like to express appreciation to Theresa Ames for the love and support that she

provided for Duane in his final days. We are immensely grateful that she was with him, providing

comfort, companionship, and a dog in his last moments on earth.

Goodbye Duane – beloved uncle, grandfather, and friend. You will be forever loved and missed.
