Gary was born July 16, 1945, to Ben and Betty Peters in Odessa. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Gary had been an Arlington resident for the past 37 years.
Even when his body was weakened, his spirit remained strong and his strength inspired everyone with whom he came in contact. Although cancer claimed his life, it never defeated his quick wit and sense of humor. Gary enjoyed his hobbies in electronics and technology. He had a love and compassion for animals and was often seen befriending neighborhood cats and dogs, earning him the nickname "Dr. Dolittle." He also enjoyed the world of aviation and, in his too short life, was able to live his dream of becoming a private pilot. Gary was able to brighten every room he entered and will be forever missed by his family and friends.
Survivors: Wife, Brenda Peters of Arlington; son, Christopher A. Peters and wife, Kristen, of Tampa, Fla.; sister, JoAnn Oliveros and husband, Ed, of Strongsville, Ohio; aunt, Vera Baldree of Fort Worth; uncle, James Roberts of Lubbock; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

It is my hope that Gary realized how much he brightened so many lives during his life and that he now knows peace which passes all understanding.
