Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lipan First Baptist Church. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery in Lipan.

Jerrye was born Aug. 14, 1922, in Fort Worth and was the daughter of George Malone Hood and Ella Bernice McGriff Hood. Her family settled in the Highland community in Erath County. She attended Highland Elementary School and graduated from Comyn High School in 1940. She attended John Tarleton College 1940-1942 and taught school several years.
Jerrye was married to Edwin Hansford "Ted" Sears at Perrin Aug. 30, 1944. Ted Sears preceded her in death June 14, 1989.
Jerrye was also preceded in death by a son, Joseph Rodney Sears; parents, George and Bernice Hood; granddaughter, Celene Ranspot; sister, Lorraine Maddox; and brother, Donald Hood.
Jerrye was a professing Christian and became a member of First Baptist Church of Lipan in 1948 where she was a member until her death. For many years she taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir.
She loved and was loved by her family.
Survivors: Sons, James Timothy Sears of Brookfield, Wis., Danny Hood Sears of Lipan; daughter-in-law and husband, Patty and Troy Ranspot of Lipan; granddaughters, Jackie and Shane Shockley of Lipan, Natalie and Sean Simmons of Plano, Amanda Sears of Dallas; great-grandchildren, Bryce Hansford and Hayden Celene Shockley of Lipan; sister, Juanita Scott of Fort Worth; sister-in-law and husband, Esther Ruth and J.E. Gibson of Amarillo; and a large number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
