J. Walker Holland
January 19, 1951 - November 19, 2021
Fort Worth, Texas - J. Walker Holland, 70, died Nov. 19, 2021, following a brief illness.
Walker was born Jan. 19, 1951, in Fort Worth, to Priscilla Bradford Holland and Barney Bowie Holland.
He attended Arlington Heights Elementary School and Fort Worth Country Day School, where his mother was a founder. After two years at FWCD, he attended and completed his schooling at the Hill School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Both his father and brother Lindsay were Hill School alumni.
Walker went on to Stanford University, where he met Margaret Lautsch. They graduated in 1974, married and enrolled in the University of Texas Law School, where both graduated in 1977.
He was hired by the law firm of Wynn, Brown, Mack, Renfro and Thompson. After making partner there, he joined Boswell & Tracey, the firm that later became Holland, Johns & Penny. Margaret later merged her law firm, Albert & Holland, with Walker's firm. Walker practiced corporate, real estate and transactional law.
A tireless worker, he credited his success in part to his partners and staff members, especially his legal assistant and secretary who spent 40 years in his employ.
He was a member of the Fort Worth Club, River Crest Country Club, the Steeplechase Club and the Tarrant Corporate Resource Networking Group.
He enjoyed working on their Johnson County farm and traveling.
In addition to Margaret, Walker is survived by brothers, Lindsay (Nicole) and Barney (Anne); and sister, Ellen. He has many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
He was a great husband, brother, friend and colleague.
The family will have a private service to honor Walker at a later date.
